Postby mad_keen » August 23rd, 2009, 1:39 pm

hey was jsut wondering if anyone has any ideas for my door trims. ill be doing it all myself so nothing too flash..

i was thinking the top piece black, the material insert red and the handle chrome.

i dont want the whole trim black because the rest of the interior is that grandma grey colour. if anyone can photoshop my ideas on to a door trim and maybe add some of their own it wud be awesome

generally the door trim colour scheme has to go with the rest of the interior so if you want to leave the rest "grandma grey" i wouldnt change the door trim

Something thats easy as hell is to just replace the carpet with sub box carpet stuff. Pretty damn easy. Could always just wrap some of the same around the door card as well, that's be easy to do too.

well im going to smooth out the plastic bits on the dash and paint them gloss black and maybe dye the dash black. so i was thinking bring black into the trims as well. i want red and black theme for the interior tho. but i dont want too much painted plastic or it starts to loook cheap.

Man, the trims look good like that, I don't think the red will work though...gotta go for a more neutral color. Unless you end doing the whole door black. you said you sent the inserts off? to where? is there a company that does that? I've tried a couple of diff combinations with the inserts myself, still haven't settled on wwhat i'm doing. I've done black fabric, black vinyl and grey vinyl on the inserts, getting pretty good at it too. i think the black door trims would go well in my car cos i've had it re-trimmed in balck carpet, so the stock door colour looks out of place a bit.

oh nah i just sent them with a mate to take them back to where i used to live cus i hav a cuzin there that does trimming. but umm if you go to http://www.ultimateautotrim.com or just find one of their products on ebay under "ef falcon leather seatcovers" they advertise just the material insert as an extra when you get seat covers soo i dunno but they might sell them separatly to wateva colour/texture you like.

wen i went to an auto trimming place they quoted me 200 bux to do the 4 doors... hopefully my cuzin only wants a carton lol.

btw was the carpet expensive?? and did you buy like one already cut to size or just bort carpet and cut it yourselff?

That car is terrible dude, started off mint and that guy just totally f**ked it in the end, If I was you, instead if a bright red, perhaps go with a deep maroon, would look a lit classier than something bright.

nah.. my grand plan is to dye the dash black at the top, pull the plastics off the front smooth them out and paint them gloss black (like bf fairmont ghia interior), full red led conversion, somehow find someone who will make me a cluster with the same background as the bf fairmont ghia, red neons under dash and under back seats and black leather seatcovers off ebay with red double stitching. also console lid and handbrake cover to match.

moneys the problem lol

I think the black continued from tops of door trims to dash will look good/better.

Seats sound good to mix the red in but are they those slips on ebay everyone seems to hate??

a lot of people don't like them if they're not fitted properly.

and especially if they're placed over GLi seats or something.

no matter how you retrim GLi seats they'll look crap.
a set of XR seats or something should be the best bang for buck, properly fitted covers on those would come off alright.

You can have them made to fit GLi seats no worries, but they'll just look flat and cheap.

the seat pattern on GLi's is pretty average :P

they're both the ebay covers.
they're trimmed to match the standard seat pattern, so they can go on the standard foams, but most people just slip them on and leave them.

the Cream ones above were glued to the original seat cover so its fitted properly.
