Holden 5.0 would be ok I reckon, from memory the alternator is fairly high up the motor on the passenger side so it would stay out of the water better, and I reckon the dizzy being at the back of the engine almost under the manifold should maybe keep it a bit drier too. They're a shit to do leads on though :/
Probably a good idea to reseal the thing before you put it in (new sump, rocker cover and intake manifold gaskets) and new oil and water pumps wouldn't go astray.
