What Mobile Phone?

Postby Dumpsta » January 28th, 2009, 9:26 pm

Just wondering what mobile phones everyone has? Ive just been reading reviews and looking around for a 'right priced' touch screen phone for a change, my brother has a HTC Touch Diamond, gotta love em! Bit outa my price range tho so I had nearly decided on a LG KS20 but then found out that everyone thats owned one hated it.. so I thought stuff it, gunna try something different, Iphones are so exy and so cumbersome. Definitly not a pocket phone. In enters the 'mini iphone' aka 'ripoff','copy','cheap chinese' phone. Why didnt apple think to make a mini Iphone?" :?

I just purchased one of these after watching videos off it on youtube, was worried bout the menu being laggy etc but Im not expecting it to be as smooth as the top phones anyhow. Anyone else seen one of these in the flesh, maybe you can tell me how bad they sucked. I'll find out the expensive way when it arrives.

The good thing is Im not expecting it to be too flash, as long as I can call people ay. Seems funny, but I actually like that its not a brand name phone and has no writing on it.. sounds pov but we love to shave our cars so whats the difference.

non-ABS = lock up at 100 & skid past the roo doing about 95. But you'll look sick doing it

N95. Not many features on what new models of phone have now but the Carl Zeiss lens has taken thousands of decent pics & days worth of clear footage. Lens > MP.

My gf has a hiptop, but it's shithouse. Screen keeps stuffing up, phone keeps on cutting out or rebooting (and it'll take 30+ minutes for phone numbers, msgs, emails to show up again), it's only 6 months old and she doesn't abuse it.

$30 a month? Who are ya with? I was looking at one before finding out how shit they are, and I had was offered the same deal (unlimited internet msn and msgs) but for $60 a month.

6230i.
It can make and recieve calls and messages, it has a camera that takes videos with low enough resolution to make plates unreadable and it has been dropped that many times I had to rip the protective plastic screen out of the cover because it was scratched so much I couldn't see the actual screen anymore.

Nokia 6110 Nav.
Free turn by turn GPS was the major selling point, and I bought a 8gb memory card for it on Ebay so I could load all my music onto it.
Since i did the aux input mod to my factory 6 stacker I can play music through the phone into the stereo (while it gives me turn by turn directions) and when I get a call it pauses the music and plays the other persons voice through the car speakers, Cheap hands free ftw!

Only phone I've had that lasted 12 months without self destructing due to my abuse, I've had this for about 14 months with NO problems what-so-ever.

6120 Classic and HTC Dual Touch 850.

That phone you found on ebay is useless in regional victoria. with Optus (Virgin/Dodo/etc) powering down the 900mhz GSM band and powering up the 2100MHZ 3g band. Also Telstras "3G" in regional areas works on 850mhz. And that phone only supports GSM and Australia only uses the 900mhz GSM band

But phones that take a few pics, sms and easy to make phone calls on are good for me.

I've got a 3310, and an N70. The 3310 cost more than the N70 lol.

3310 was the best phone ever, but it chewed through batteries. Never had a single problem with it ever.

Got the N70 recently off ebay, complete with all accessories except a memory card (but the capacity for a 2gb card) for $119. Once I get around to properly setting the N70 up (new sim, set up pxts & video, internet, etc) it should be sweet. For now I'm using up my old sim's credit & am just using it for txts & calls

I got a hiptop and I hate the thing with a passion...the plan itself is awesome, unlimited net n msgs are the shiz...phone calls are a bit of a killer and my phone bill is representing that atm...but the phone is gay.

I treat mine pretty well...only dropped it a couple times but the scrolly button decides to stop working sometimes. Constantly cuts out in the middle of phone calls. takes a very long time to reconnect with the network. I didn't have use of my phone for 2 or 3 days a couple weeks ago cos it couldn't find the network...that sucked.
It has frozen and shut down twice...lost all my numbers, all my messages..everything stored to the phone memory was gone and I never got it all back. Telstra fella said they're known to do that every now and then.....not very helpful

Yeah the Iphone ripoff is GSM only, the one I purchased anyway, I think you can get others that are 3G also btu they are the same size as the iphone. I didnt reckon Id need 3G anyhow, I'll just slot my GSM sim straight in.
If anyone knows, are there any advantages in switching to 3G anyway, I heard 3G service was crap.

3g service is faster, faster internet, less down time, better reception on Telstra and Optus regional services. GSM is about 20years 2 old
