Best way to send some wheels to Canberra?

Postby mooseman » February 23rd, 2009, 6:04 am

A bloke brought some wheels off me and im looking for the cheapest way to get them to Canberra. I tried one or two mobs from google and they just stuffed me around. Anyone know a good way to send them?

could also go to a wheel place and ask for some of the boxes they get the rims in.
then on pallet as well i guess.

Depending on the size of the boxes you could always send em individually.

Do they have tyres? If its just rims you can box them up individually and post them via aus post (depending on weight). Thats what I did when I sent a set of 17s off.
If they have tyres you can still box em up and post them via SmartSend couriers I think it is, they quoted me about 40 bux x4 (individually) and 60 bux x2 if I could box 2 together.

the rim's i sold (weld draglite's) with tyre's,
i just went to the post office (narre south) & sent them ! to cairns at that! cost was $180
each i did seperate...
bubble wrap.....

then some news paper....
Image

on the rear of the wheel i had news paper , the center cap & wheel nut's in different bags, more news paper....
Image

a thick cardboard disc on each side of the rim, & shrink wrap the f :o :o ker's.... ;)
Image

then i put some a fluro sticker background with the mailing address on it :good:
the light weight of the rim's helped witht the low postage cost,
they got to cairns a little over a week later (due to the flood's)
the byer was stoked with the rim's & had no postal damage at all :yahoo:

If you can get em on a pallett and to TNT your looking at around the $130 - $140 mark.

it's funny but...i was quoted $240 at aust post narre warren, & when i went to narre warren south to pickup my shift kit from w.a they quoted $180  ........was told that some place's will charge top dollar unless you ask for the cheapest rate, or if you get a nice chick behind the counter :P
