Ah super gay - it's actually locked then coming unlocked under power? That should be impossible!

I knoew and yea, i gassed it bagged 2 then in clunked and banged then dropped to 1 wheel til i got off it

The new springs probably won't help you.

You need to get it installed by someone who really know's what they're doing. No offence Dan but Clint has done a bunch of these now and has discovered that the instructions couldn't be more wrong.
Malakai's was fitted by Clint and is still going strong.

IIRC Dan did some little fiddling that should have stopped the unlocking happening, mine only unlocks in the wet, if it is dry, i can gas it all day and bake 2 without dropping back to 1 wheel.

This is a problem that Fairmont1998 had that 4WD Systems were looking at in an attempt to stop this happening. The new springs have been designed to stop this happening, so why won't the springs stop mine from unlocking?

Maybe the springs will stop your problem. Best to ring 4WD Systems I think. I can't even remember the last status of the new springs.

How many km has Malakai's locker actually done? How many of those has he actually served it? 67rce's locker is pretty much silent and has less backlash than the one in my car - Malakai's can be heard across crowded carparks!

The problem is in the design of the locker itself - the tooth profiles are shit, and they aren't deep enough. Also, the shape of the cutouts for the cross pins needs to be revised to apply more lateral force to the side 'gears' to stop them unlocking.

I've had my locker for like 4 or 5 years and it has never dropped one wheel (apart from when I smashed an axle lol, and even then I could still drive the car). I have no idea what my locker is, I've never been able to find anyone selling them new, but it pisses on the 4wd systems ones.

I didn't follow the instructions in the box for 67rce's either - my foreman used to fit them to hiluxes etc all the time, so I had a big chat to him about them when I was fitting the locker to a spare center at work.

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Fair enough. I wasn't trying to have a go at your skills, all I know about fitting them is what I've been told by Clint at Hart's.

He and I both agree with most of what you have to say about the 4wd systems LOKKA.
At the end of the day the best LOKKA update IMO is "Get a KAAZ people!"

Yep I wish I could have had one like yours Rollin. The 4WD Systems lokkas are good for the street and for the strip but not so good for drifting and that, they are designed for 4WDs after all. From what I have heard I think that if they lock up and you keep the power on they stay locked but if you let it unlock then jump back on the power they don't always engage again and one side stays open.

Mine is noisy but it works flawlessly so far. Sucked in to everyone who had one that didn't work properly. :D

67rce, take it out and get a spool... and be done with it.

I dont want a spool, been there, done that. My old ED XR6 had a spool in it, car didnt last too long after that (6 weeks, then i smashed it).

My Lokka is silent, it only makes noises when cornering at carpark speeds, or in the wet when it unlocks. The only issue i have with the Lokka is when in unlocks in the wet.

As for locking when you throw power at them and they stay locked, yes, except in the wet, where you throw power at them and they lock, and then after about 15-20m unlock even if you stay into it. If need be, next wet weather day i can demonstrate for any non beleivers.

67rcce, I just thought of something else that you should check. Differences in the tyre diameter can cause them to unlock when they shouldn't, uneven tread wear, tyre air pressure or mismatched tyres can cause that to happen.

It may also be his IRS too - could be that one wheel is hitting a bump and getting slightly light, just enough for it to unlock. Theoretically they should never unlock under power no matter what you do, but a few people have had problems with that, which is of teh gay.

Tyres are 255/40 R17 Nankang NSII, nearly identical tread wear, but the thing that i dont get, is it happens only in the wet, and in 1st or 2nd gear because that is all the Wheezer can get it to spin in
