Sunroof help??

Postby EdFairmontGhia » September 18th, 2007, 11:45 am

The other night comming down the princess hwy , my sunroof decided to pop up even though we pushed none of the buttons, due to the rain and the fact there was no sun, so we stopped popped the sunroof back into place, then get a 1km down the road and the sunroof decided to pop up then rip itself out of the tracks and smash itself all over the hwy.

i now have one bent track/arm that i will try to fix myself, but i also have the problem of trying to replace the glass, i've called just about every glazer in Geelong and no one is able to help, i called a few east side sun roof installers and they have quoted me $1000 just for a replacement glass pannel. i've called most of the wreckers between here and melb but no luck.
Does anyone know of a place that can help me out?? the rubber seal / frame of the glass is still good, so i'm hoping someone somewhere can just cut a piece to shape?? I understand that the glass might have to be rolled into shape to fit the curve of my EL roof, but fark it can't be this hard to fix a sunroof?? :(
Has anyone ever has this problem before? If so where did you go to get it fixed??

Fark that's no good. And to think I was always envious of your sunroof :(

Have you tried any panel-beaters or similar? Actually ... they probably wouldn't know either, working on the roof wouldn't be that common because there would be real structural problems if the sunroof was damaged in a crash.
