gearbox differences

Postby Phoenix » October 1st, 2007, 11:13 pm

Hey guys and gals,
just a quicky.
As much as i'd love to do a 6 spd like rollin's got....i'm poor.
Whats the diff between the Ea-EB1 and the EB2-EL gearboxes?
Is it just the length of 1st gear?
can someone post up like, max (reasonable) speeds in each gear as well as any other note worthy differences?
Cheers.

I dunno mate.

A reverse synchro for one.

And I was told that XR boxes had a shorter throw or some B/S. I can't exactly remember (> .05 right now) but I don't know how much truth there is to that.

yeah, not too fussed about the throw....will get a quikshifter....
but if i can get an entire EA setup for $350-450, or only an EB2 box for about the same price (a little more) which way should i go?
basically, i wanna hit more than farkin 20Km/h in 1st.

With 3.45 in an EF the EA box hits 40ks in 1st the EB box should hit 60Ks with the 3.45 dif ratio in first

i know that first cog on an EA isnt fun with more than 3.08s in the back. i run out of first way too fast with an ef box and 3.45s. but the poxy CFIs needed that first to keep up with bombadores at the lights....till 2nd.
