VL turbo's rock, that's a damn quick one too, but damn it took ages for it to get going, was worth it in the end, that was fkn HUGE.

if it were Turbo it might be worth it. I actually noticed that one earlier tonight, I thought it must have been a turbo at that price. That's like asking 8k for an EA S pack in mint condition, it's just not going to happen.

Also for those who don't know my Grandma drives a VL Berlina, my pop taught me how to drive in this car and me and Nan love it to bits. I will make sure it goes to a good home when she retires from driving. Many fond memories with that car. I used to get paid $10 to wash it.

I don't mind VL Turbo's, I nearly bought one as a first car back in the day. It was completely stock (which was rare even then!) white and grey with a manual box. On first glance I didn't even realise it was turbo, the manual was what got me interested. They had $5000 on it. The thing that killed the VLT idea was when i went to get insurance, they wanted $4500 per year to comprehensively insure the car for $5000. **** that.

I have two fond VL-T memories
1) QIKVL at the fordforums drag day flogging IQUIK6 by half a track and then being told to go home for not having a cage and running massive MPH (like 150 or something)
2) Seeing a canary VL at an illegal drag meet, and noticing the cage and parachute. Realising which car it was (it is well known as an 8-second car) it was no surprise that the 200m burnout that followed was impressive!!!

VL Turbos have had their day. I'd get one if it came up ridiculously cheap but they're just getting old now, best to save your pennies for BA XR6T's.

It's a shame there were never Ghia turbos, hopefully there will be something like that with the Orion. The other shame is that there isn't a special colour / spec XT / Futura for VicPol  Dammmnnn that would be some special sht. If Ford did it everyone would OD and Froff over it. I would, I'd rock up to the auction / wholesale yard with a cheque for however much they want to get my hands on one.

FPV Force 6 won't be a very affordable car on the second hand car market for a long time, so I doubt they'll be seen on Princes with P-Plates and 21's for a few years yet.

It's funny following around a VLT and dosing, everyone ignores the E-series and looks at the VLT :D Handy if there's cops around LoL.

Postby spope » July 31st, 2007, 8:22 pm

I reckon the real problem with VLs is the interiors. They feel so cheap and tacky - horrible lumpy plastic dashboard, yuck.
That being said, I've been in a few fast ones - they can be fun. The RB30 engine is not half bad - certainly very smooth.
Inline 6 FTW!

Of course, the other problem with VLs (and VNs, for that matter) are the amount of wankers that drive stock ones and think they rock. They really don't. Stock = not quick.

What is it with VL's and dosing? It seems to be a big goal when building a VL turbo.

I'm seriously curious...

Not too sure about the whole dosing thing! It's just a part of the Melbourne street scene :P

The only thing that puts me off is the wankers that drive them. If you have been in the northern suburbs around thommo/lalor area you will understand what I mean. There is that many wankers driving around in either stocko thrashed VLturbos or white auto VNs that they think are awesome. I blew off a guy in an auto VN the other night coming home from the city and he decided to follow us to macca's and try to start a fight just because I embarrassed him... stupid fucker.
