some issues im facing with my EB...

Postby dandaman » December 13th, 2009, 10:40 pm

Hi guys, great forum! Ive been reading for hours lol.

Just needing some info that id say you guys would know upside down lol.

first is my auto.... lost 2nd gear and wont stay in OD.
Im looking just to fit a 2nd handy and was wondering would up to say an AU box fit straight in and plug up?
Or do i must get an EB box?

second.. my climate control, (EB Fairmont digital dash) The fan speeds are gone, only full noise works lol, any ideas?

last but not least is the water temp.. Do these cars have the water pump impeller issue? ie: the blades dissapear?

It gets hot on warm days.

Cheers guys! Any info would be greatly appreciated!

New EB guy. lol.

Can't Help you with the AU as I don't know, why dont' you just put an Eseries box in would be alot cheaper and more common to find..I belive if you do go AU box you have to change the bellhousing.

If your fans aren't blowing out air could be the switch that isn't pluged in (which is near your globe box), a fuse or you fan motor has burnt out..

Water temp being hot on hot days is normal, unless its VERY hot, try changing your thermostat.
Cheers

ABS = spongy brakes, but you'll slow to about 60

non-ABS = lock up at 100 & skid past the roo doing about 95. But you'll look sick doing it

dunno anything about the autos.. apart from they make a nice mess when they strip the teeth off the clutchpacks

iirc the fan defaults to high when the fan speed controller has died so it could be that or as hybrid34 said it could also be a loose connector somewhere

its located on the heater box.. easy enough to get to if you remove the glovebox.

heat wise i'd say thermostat or rooted radiator.
e series are known to have radiator issues due to residual casting sand left in the block which finds its way to the radiator and blocks the radiator up..
(as ive been told more than one radiator joint over the years ive had a e series)
02 vx commodore.
Basically stock. Might fit a ls1 and manual eventually.

Oh and a 93 dc 2 Ltd. Rusting away. Past the point of being saved

If the blower fan only works on high it's likely the fan speed resistor is stuffed. It is screwed into the heater case behind the glove box.

How long since you've replaced the thermostat? It's a good idea to do them about every two years or so, and make sure you have the right mix of coolant in there. I'd also remove the radiator and back flush it with a hose really well to make sure there is no crap in it, and also that there is nothing stuck in between the condenser and the radiator like leaves, cat hair or whatever.

If you still have a clutch fan check that it doesn't spin too freely while you're stuffing about in there - if the viscous fluid in the clutch fan is too 'liquid' it won't push enough air to keep the car cool.

It's not likely the water pump will be stuffed, but if you do all that other stuff and it still gets too hot you may need to change it.

AU gearbox goes straight into an e-series no problems at all :)

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.
