buying a subaru

Postby old_mate » January 16th, 2010, 9:06 pm

The time has come to convert 2 cars into 1. I'm going to offload my dual cab Hilux (of which i have only put 10 000k's on it in 2.5years due to company car) and the missus will ditch her mighty N16 pulsar and we're going to one vehicle.

Had a look around today, and I think im going to buy a Subaru Liberty wagon, either the 3.0L six or 2L turbo. Don't have the budget to go 2.5L turbo :(. Also had a look at a Mazda 6 wagon, and once you get your head around the fact your a shtknt for growing up and buying a family flog box you soon realise how much car you buy, a BF xr6 turbo i drove today was hell fast but felt like a fucken cab on roids after going for a punt in a liberty. Anyway, pretty pointless thread i guess, anyone on here know someone who owns a Subaru and has opinions on them?

mmm liberty's are sooo comfy and beautifully crafted my aunty has a 2.5 GT with the STI pack, its just outstanding!!! which shape are you planning on? the newest or the previous? the previous shapes are awesome but the awd likes to camber wear the tires out pretty bad from what i've seen on my aunt's you'll be rotating tires quite alot to avoid the camber wear issues, thats even after it's had everything looked at by subaru.

looking at 04 - 07 models, so yea, the old shape. I have heard the auto's are terrible, i was leaning towards a slushbox to keep the wife happy, will have to drive one. The six speed manual wasn't at all bad either.

I was buying a 2L GT wagon but we coulnt agree on price.

I havent driven the auto but I found with the manual 2l GT it was crap off boost when driving about town, But once boost hit

Nice car but I think us falcon owners are lucky with the rear leg room.
