My Dad got TAZERed

Postby Rollin » November 11th, 2007, 1:57 am

My Dad is a cop (which is funny...) and he just did a training course on TAZERs, during which each officer was required to be zapped, so they knew what it was like.

He sent this email to me and my brother and sister just before:

Guys.

If ever a police officer informs you that he intends to TASER you unless you stop what you are doing I advise that you S T O P doing whatever it is that you are doing...

Was zapped yesterday.

50,000 volts.

Will not even begin to describe how painfull the experience was, to the extent that no one who has been tasered has been able to describe it.

All I will say is that the moment the power was turned on I went through three distinct thought processes.

First was a repeated (in my mind) loop of "how long is this going to last?".

Second was a repeated "turn it off!".

Third, when I genuinely (and I mean GENUINELY) thought I had an alien in my intestines that was going to explode through my stomach wall, combined with the PAIN in my hip, back and shoulder, was a constant thought that if the power wasn't turned off I could actually die from whatever it was that was happening inside me.

Finally the power was shut off (5 second burst) and I would have done anything anyone asked of me so long as the power was not turned on again....

Do not get TASERED for any reason....

Dad.

Soooo..... Really don't risk getting TAZERed I think!

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. I'm not quite following the "friendly fire" tasering course your old boy had to undertake... obviously the po-lice don't do the same with handguns?

Reminds me of that early episode of Jackass-

Knoxville seems to reckon the pepper spray was the worst tho.

Thats Victorian po-lice for you... Shoot first and ask questions later.

Note to self, Tazers HURT!!! I remember watching Jackass when they had the Tazers, and IIRC JK said the capsicum spray was the worst, followed by the tazer.

**edit... i didnt see TUFED6's post before i posted... I love Johnny's comment about the pepper spray stopping a fucking freight train... LOL

I think it's to get an appreciation of how much it hurts - It'd be easy to just keep hammering someone again and again and again if you have no appreciation of how much it hurts, but once you've felt it you'd probably realise that 3-5 seconds at a time is more than long enough to obtain full co-operation from the subject...

I suppose it is a good idea, it would be a fairly effective way to learn!

But sticking with handguns, I can't stop picturing that target practice scene from Super Troopers
