Help with info on a shift kit

Postby mygreened » October 15th, 2010, 8:28 pm

I have looked at an ED Fairmont (supercharged) & it has harsh gear changes. Would a shift kit solve this problem or is the auto stuffed. I'm told that the car puts out around 200kw at the wheels. I don't know much about shift kits but I have read that they help out alot with modified engines. Also does anyone know roughly how much I can expect to pay for one supplied & fitted in the melbourne area. Thanks John

What do you mean by Harsh gear changes.

Most people who have a shift kitted auto will generally say that it causes harsh changes.

I'm not sure how harsh the gear changes are the problem is the car is in QLD & I"m in VIC I had racq do a vehicle inspection today & on the report it says transmission up shift harsh it has a few minor cosmetic things wrong with it which i can fix myself eg new tyres, battery etc but my main concern is the auto

you can make and fit one for a few dollars.

and as john said. harsh changes is usually a sign of a shift kit.
