Help thinking about buying this EB

Postby DaveS » July 2nd, 2011, 8:36 pm

G'day

Need some opinons on this EB I'm looking at buying off a mate for $700. I'm not normally a Ford man myself (Nissan lover :P ) but after going in a spin in someones Turboed EB I decided I'd like to have a little project EB for myself. So without knowing alot about E serries fords I thought joining this forum would be helpful. At the moment its cheaper then anything on carsales and places in my area but still if waiting around longer I suppose wouldn't hurt me. My friend is firm on $700 and from what I've seen it seems okay, apart from a few areas that you will be able to see in the pictures.

Ideally I'd like to get it into a roadworthied state fairly quick with minimal funds, the engine runs fine and I've found a few things that I will have to fix, any common problems with these that I should have another look at also would be appreciated.

(Sorry if this is the wrong forum I couldn't decide which one would be best)

Personally I think $700 is a bit rich, If your looking for a project I would be looking for a EF or EL as you get the serpintine (AKA one belt) set up, the BBM (BroadBand Manifold), and with the EL you have the ability to use a J3 chip with no major mods or dramas.

It all comes down to which series you have your heart set on.

On eBay there is a ef turbo for $3500. Running standard computer, injectors .not the best set up but a good base to start from if u wanted to spend money on it.

Fork out a bit more and get a Eb Ed ef el xr6?
Look on eBay ,car sales , look everywhere, generally u won't find a shit heap in car sales, there usually decent cars. So decide what u want buy a shit heap for cheap no rego and in poor condition .

Or

A decent eb Ed ef el fairmont /xr6 in good condition with rego for $2000 - $3000 a bit more for a good xr. Which runs good , good body etc.

It's your choice mate
