Hi-tek brakes in Moorabbin are pretty good.

C'mon, give the guy a brake.

I bought a pair of front rotors off eBay (DBA slotted). Cost was $250 plus postage. Getting them fitted in a few days but installation shouldn't be too pricey.

While we're on the topic, what brand/type of pads do people recommend to use with slotted discs? I have Bendix ultimates at the moment on my EB and they leave a bit to be desired. Too hard a compound I think.

Ultimates will chew your rotors, but that's the price you pay for pulling up better than standard. They dust terribly, but do their job IMHO.

They dont seem to pull up much better than the old (stock) ones I had. The only benefit I can see is they dont really fade after a heavy braking sesh.
Ive been driving an EF and the brakes are 11ty times better. The bigger booster would help, but surely it cant make that much difference? Maybe ill change to an EF booster.

Ive changed the fluid in mine too, helped but not much.

Change to a dot 5 fluid, DBA slotted rotors, Bendix ultimate pads, and invest in some braided front brake lines. I had that combo and worked everytime inc a few track days and was uber reliable.

I believe the braided lines made a huge difference.

^^^ what he said.

If you want less brake fade, go to a bigger rotor combo - ie UPC or Cebco or EL GT brakes.

Sweet. I Think ill look into some braided lines.
You'd have the bigger booster though vegabass? Being an EL?

Im considering changing the booster just for the practice :P

EF / EL all run the same size booster...AUII onwards had the metal booster and master cylinder to suit.

IIRC, some EDs (V8's?) had the dual diaphragm booster opposed to the single standard one.

EB/ED XR6 and V8s got the duel diaphragm booster. You can easily pick it by it's ribbed surface. It's definitely an improvement over standard (although my standard was full of rust, so that probably didn't help much :P)
