Well, there it is. Ford’s new GT500 powerplant that HOT ROD got to see first hand in Detroit. It’s bigger, at 5.8L, and it’s badder, thanks to a TVS2300 supercharger. At 650hp and 600lb-ft of torque it’s officially the world’s most powerful production V8 engine and is promising to deliver a 200+mph top speed to the 2013 GT500 it will be powering. The Detroit Supercar war is on, and you can’t help but imagine that the Corvette ZR-1 was the intended target of this road rocket.
