XR6 XH Ute project build turbo advice.....

Postby jakesxr6ute » April 16th, 2012, 9:45 pm

hi all,

I have a 97 XR6 ute, absolutely gorgeous, low kms, and clean as the day it was made...
But i love it so i want to use it as my build for a 220kw turbo 6 and i feel It's the perfect platform...

But I've never turbo'd a ford before, and I want to do it right, see the right people and get running
So that I can maintain the engine while getting some extra grunt.. I could turbo it and crank the boost and destroy the engine but that's not what I'm about....

So any experienced guys out there might help with:

Q. What type of turbo works well in a 4 litre inline ford like mine?

Q. Upgrade the injectors for more flow?

Q. Do i need to toughen up any of the internals ie: pistons cranks etc..

Q. Exhaust selection, will my 2.5' straight throughs be big enough?

Thanks guys,

Ford long, ford strong...

Jake

Do a search mate that stuff has been covered countless times...sounds like a good project if you go ahead with it.
