Anything can be done. Only question- is it a good idea?

The answer is no. It is not a good idea.

iv got the car here and the running gear here so i was going to start taking mesurements,i dont know what sort of weight the car is but when ur in it, it seem around the size of a vh commodore,i saw some pics a long time ago of one and it had a v8 volvo engine in it but i love ford so thats why i asked this question, this car has a full chassies, they also say that it has a roll on roll off front end so that could also be changed if there is somthing that can fit it in the ford range,

sure is a fairly average looking thing stock, but most old jap stuff comes up pretty cool with the right mods.

personally i reckon a old school 6 would be cooler, but it would certainly go all right with a clevo driveline. hope your not chopping up a good gxl though?

no,no,a mate of mine had a glx and it preity much died of cancer and he sold me the running gear, well gave me the gear for $100 bucks, and unless i can use it 4 a v8 its a waste and thats why i thought of this, its unique, the nissan is compleat , runs and takes xe mags, funny thing is this car didnt sell very well in this country so its quite rare and it was the xc that killed it in the market plus the xu1 of course at the time

did some mesurements and the gxl diff is too long and its mounts would need to be moved to line up with the springs, the gxl leaf springs are too short, the diff is around 4 inchs too long,im thinking old commodore could be the go,the diff, from inside of drum to inside of drum is 1310mm,and from inside of spring mount to inside of spring mount is 975mm,them mesures arnt exact, anyway the adventure continues :good:

Thats a pretty narrow diff. You'll struggle to find any Holden or Ford with a diff that narrow.

About the narrowest Holden or Ford diff is Torana or pre '67 Ford (which are like hens teeth to find) which is still a bit too wide.

I think you'll need to cough up to get one shortened.

thanks guys for the info im going to look into the hilyx and early ford and torana diffs,iv just been told theres a problem with the steering box location in relation to the v shaped engines, dont know for sure yet, alot of people are saying RB30 with a turbo, thats a scary thought,if its going to have to be like that i may have to sell it and make it some one elses problem, unless a turbo charged ford 6 can fit,ill cross that bridge if i come to it,as for the GXL it was discovered in an old dairy is a very sad state,so we salvaged what we could, which wasnt much,so no the car has gone to ford heaven, but having said that iv got enough good parts to get a real good start and another xc,thay are in storage and not for sale :good:
