what are these from?

after pulling the head off the ed after it stopped some of the pistons have clean spots, any ideas?

Just carbon buildup mate. Pretty sure its just from running rich or using oil, maybe a mix of the two?

did you blow a head gasket?
thats usually a sign of water getting into the cylinder over a long period of time

XH ute daily - DOHC BA XR6 engine, T5, AU3 ECU with TI J3 chip, ported BBM, 3" stainless intake - 12" sub, tub liner and hard lid - mass skids and epic tyre carrying capabilities :)

no water in the oil, car just stopped and when i tried to start it it backfired and farted but wouldn't run.
