who was making the custom thermostat housing filler necks??

Postby TROYMAN » September 12th, 2012, 6:35 pm

hi guys
a few weeks back i seen a thread here where someone was looking at making custom thermostat housings with the filler neck/radiator cap on it.

now that im looking at starting a new project and will be deleting the expansion tank i think this will come in handy, but i cant find the thread..

anyone know what forum the thread was in or have a link they can put up???

Im gonna have another crack at this...
Just so everyone knows, if you have all the parts except the filler neck already, you can buy them on ebay and get them welded quite cheap. A good way to save alot of money.

If you **** have a go at me again for this when i havent mentioned any costs or bitched in a forsale thread, then ill never mention it again, it just sucks seeing people pay out the ass for somehing when there is an alternative :)

misk he offers a thermostat and seal brand new housing and the bit plus welding.

i understand you can do it cheap but then theres the hassle of getting it welded and not alot of people know/can weld alloy very good.
(atleast i think thats what the housing are made from).

also price up a high flow tridon thermostat i got on the other week and trade was over $30.
so say $70-90 in parts then add the welding wire and blah blah and he isnt making a heap of money off them.

would you have the idea if he didnt already make one?

Yeah, ive had the idea for years, just didnt know you could buy the parts cheap off ebay.

And i clearly said, if someone already has the parts, why would they go buying all this brand new shit thats not required.
Ive got spare thermostat housings for every model and thermostats etc.

Anyway, if this is going to turn into another thread of arguments, delete my posts. Anyone that is actually buying one of these products that has been told about the alternative was thankful, it seems to be people who arent buying one that want to argue.

And for the record im not going around telling anyone who wants to buy one not to, people have seen what idid in my thread and asked me.

Im sure for some people buying one pre made is the best option.

CVE also makes them, and you use a new thermostat housing so there are less impurities in the metal.
Some people also like the idea of no messaround. you make a phone call and it arrives in the mail.

You can buy chicken at the supermarket.
You can also buy ALL the 11 herbs and spices, yet I am sure you still buy your KFC !

I can understand it being deleted from that thread, but i dont recall there being a ban on talking about products just because someone else is selling it on the forum...

I agree 100% with paul, im not trying to start an argument or deter people from buying a product, if people are going to have a cry about what ive said, mods just delete my posts.

being a welder id be buying a new thermostat housing to start with ive welded onto water pump and thermostat housings before be much easier with a nice clean one.

For most people its easier to buy something and pay a little extra than to put it together yourself.

i understand that completely and agree, im not disputing any of that, i guess i was trying to help people save some money if they already have the parts required and just need the filler neck welded.

basically it seems we all have a similar opinion on all of this, i just dont understand how this specific topic became so taboo...

Links to said parts on eBay ?

I can weld alloy , I'm keen to make one

So with the hose that went to the bottom of the coolant reservoir u just bung that hose up ?

What about the other 2 small hoses that go to the top ??

Just search for filler neck on ebay. The top hose on the thermostat housing goes to the top bung on the drivers.sode of the radiator

No need for the header tank anymore, more room in the bay.

I'm just trying to decide what I'm going to do about my coolant level sender

Disconnect it and remove the bulb out of your cluster or tape it to the wireing harness.
