EFII - V8 ti fill a 6cyl engine bay conversion.

Postby citylimits » September 28th, 2012, 1:26 pm

With my '96 EFII wagon reaching a decision making milestone for me -"shall she stay or shall she go" and with the thought of this good and faithful servant being gone from my life being a daunting prospect, I thought that perhaps a repower might make sense. Any way I cut this thing there will be a big cheque book involved and there's know way around that. Sooo, if the old 4ltr six is coming out, I thought a Ford V8 of medium mileage from around the same period as the car - the 1990's, might be an interesting change. The question is: will a V8 motor from say an EF Fairmont/Fairlane bolt straight up to the trans already in my car or did the V8 powered cars have a different transmission from the six's?
Cheers, Bruce.

One thousand, nay a million voices full of fear. And terror possesed me then. And I begged, "Angel of the Lord, what are these tortured screams?" And the angel said unto me, "These are the cries of the carrots, the cries of the carrots!

They call the V8s 5.slow for a reason. If you want more fast out of it, turbo the 6.

That was the most long winded way of asking if a V8 will fit into a 6 cyl ef that I have ever seen

So what - is that the only contribution you could make?
Whats wrong with being chatty, or is than forbidden in your rule book as well?

I'm glad I don't live in your drab wee world, mate.

I think your totally irrelevant comment contributes nothing to this discussion and probably comes under the heading of a pervious post from a moderator - was it you - of "low quality posts"
I want to thank very much all those guys who did take my question seriously and gave me a respectful, friendly and above all, answers that were designed to help me unlike these other two members who saw my question as an opportunity to sneer!.

Thanks to you other guys, I appreciate the help. And for what it’s worth, I’ll stick with a six.

Cheers
