Well everyone has stopped buying them for some reason. Go to the v8supercars and see how many people rock up in Toyotas and Mazdas.
In Perth I see fark all FG's but still see plenty of VE commodores.

It will be a shame to see the RWD falcon/commo gone. What's going to happen to parts and retrofitting new tech into our shitty e-series :( lol

My bet, commodore will continue, but built in Mexico or Asia somewhere, falcon will outlive commodore but only by 24 months before we get a global rwd sedan, same car will be used as falcon, Lincoln, 4 door mustang etc etc.

Or, we all end up driving camrys.

to many dudes with no balls these days, worried about fuel econemy and ease of parking. Rather then wanting a solid car, that is safe, fit the whole family, tow a caravan and enough grunt to overtake up a hill.

With the popularity of the new 86 i recon there could be a chance ford and holden will bring out a small rear wheel drive car.
Maybe a new Torana and Cortina!

Stupid thing is, with choices like the Ecoboost, ecolpi etc, the falcons is one of the cheapest cars to run on the market, most of the press articles about the Ecoboost praise it, and say it should be selling ten fold what it is.

It's the car everyone wanted, but no one wants :banghead:

I imagine any Torana/Cortina will just be a global car with a local name.

they just can't justify completely separate models here.

Its just perception. People think smaller car = smaller costs. They also thing Commys and Falcons are grandpa cars or boganmobiles (probably not too far off the mark).

I <3 my G6LE. Best cruiser out. Goes good and gets 9.5L/100 city cycle, on a flat highway it can sit on 6L/100. Just as cheap to run as my girls previous Toyota Echo, but unlike the Echo its actually enjoyable to drive.

Well thats farken shit so its unlikely there will ever be a calais worth upgrading to as the VE shape calais looks pox... now im stuck with the vz!

Yea perceptions have completely changed for ford holden... also alot of people cant drive and seem to think they need a golf just so they can park

not to mention that everyone already thinks they're doomed in a few years.

people don't like buying cars that won't be around in a few years unless they're something special.

The XA was meant to be scrapped, then the XD, EA, AU. Difference is the media now gets a hold of info that they know will pique interest and people believe all the bullshit they sprout instead of just taking the facts on board.

This article has the least amount of bullshit I've seen so far, but it's still full of speculation.

This really is depressing knowing 2 iconic australian cars are going to go down in flames, i bet the politicions wont be seen dead in a toyota echo being cheuferred from place to place, all the use now is stato's and ghia's/G6E's

**** it im buying a toyota chaser now, least they'll live forever......

On another note if ford brought out an fg wagon or next model wagon, they'd more than likely sell heaps of them.....

So if commodore is built in Mexico, and falcon is built in Thailand, would the Aussie 'fans' still accept them as falcons and commodores?

If ford had xr6 turbo wagon's and irs in the wagons, I would of bought one of them instead of the ss wagon.

Would seriously suck balls if they do drop the falcon and commodore :(

It might be getting closer but we hear the same crap every year.

I guess the good thing is once the Falcon is gone we should get Mustangs here... could even be at a bearable price. :amen:
