Need to know if an eb/ed alternator will fit on el.

Postby Jessohz » November 7th, 2013, 8:37 pm

Please help my alternator has gone on my el and I have been offered a eb/ed alternator until I get a new one on Monday, I work very hard and long hours thus cannot afford to have the alternator stuffed when I work 12 hours a day. Please help.

Lies. It will fit if you swap the pulleys over.

I'm sure I've done it.

What pulleys exactly are you talking about? I'm good with cars but not this good.

The pulley on the front of the alternator.

Undo the nut on the front of the pulley and swap the 2 pulleys over.

The EB runs a different belt to the EL so they wont work without swapping the pulleys which suit the different belts.

I had to use a rattle gun. It was pretty tight.

I'm sure the brackets on the alternator itself are different.

Someone else will know.

I either did it on a falcon or it was when I put a falcon alternator on my maverick.

Getting too old for memories.

Haha. Thanks guys. I will try it out. But I will call ford first and ask them just to double check with them.

it won't fit. belt pulley is different, but as said above it can be changed. But the actual body of the alternator is different.

I've seen EF/L put on earlier with modifications. But not the other way around.

Just go to the wreckers and get one

I don't know your situation but if you can't afford 50-100 you really shouldn't be driving an e-series.

Haha

Your choice to believe it or not but its my car, I know how long I've had it for and what I haven't ever had to replace. Only thing its had done are services and I get a roadworthy done every year and my car was fine until now.

Its called actually looking after the car, the more you do that, the longer they last.

You will need to fit the bracket if you wanted to use an older alternator.

Wish I knew the pulleys could be changed lol would make it easier to run no aircon and use an ed alt with the pulley changed so the belt can be tightened!

Yeh sorry, was just having a laugh (thought the 'lol' at the end would have been a give away)

I didn't think you were. Thought you were picking shit on me, like everybody else does because of my car. It's all good. It just frustrates me. I always feel the necessity to stand up for myself because that's how my dad raised me, the car I have was my dads, but he passed away so that's why I'm so antsy about it. So yeah sorry about that.
