Meanwhile in Deutschland...

Postby Troutman » January 14th, 2014, 4:37 am : Bipolar, misk Likes this post

G'day all,

A friend in Germany who I know through a Crown Vic website has alerted me to this beast for sale. Powered by the 5-0, it's done only 80,000 kms. It was previously registered in Britain.

It is, in fact my friend is seriously thinking about going up to look (it's near Berlin apparently, a bit of a drive for him).

He's asked me if there are any common issues with this model. I've tried searching but the Windsors and trannys seem fairly bulletproof if I'm not mistaken. I hear of MAFs causing issues but that's about it.

Can anyone suggest a list any common AU V8 issues?

Bit of an update, my friend has decided to buy the car. I said my rationale was similar when I bought my Panther. Will post more pics when they become available.

That's mad JT.. I know they love getting falcons and fairlanes in England for hearses and limos, they must get a decent price from ford to buy them. It's probably reached end of life as a funeral parlour limo in the uk and been bought by a Berlinian

Yeah I've seen the FG limos in the UK, though this is something else again. Apparently the AU's story is as follows (quoted by MGdriver, the AU's new owner, from another forum):

I'm pretty sure the low milage is legit, the car was imported to England back in 2002 and it hasn't been driven much over there simply because it is so expensive on fuel and insurance. The current owner ended up with it as a trade-in, he eventually moved to Germany due to a better job opportunity and took the car with him, that was in 2012, he then drove it for another year on the British registration over here until it expired so the car has been sitting for quite a while now without getting driven much, hopefully that won't be an issue. He said he would love to get it back on the road but he doesn't have the money to convert it for German TÜV standards to get it registered here so he's having to sell it. Obviously here in Germany a right hand drive car is pretty impractical so nobody wanted it, hence the cheap price, but as I said I don't have an issue with that so I went for it.
