Ford Falcon ef XR6 bellhousing

Postby Rick84 EF XR6 SA » February 21st, 2015, 1:31 am

Howzit peeps
So i have started the nice job of replacing my clutch on my EF XR6.
I am busy taking off the bellhousing but I dont know how to get to the 2 bolts on top as it is almost against the firewall.
Any advise will be appreciated.

Unbolt gearbox cross member, Let it hang down.
Then using three long extension bars and a good brand knuckle you will have a win.
that's how I Do it.

was it ok before clutch.
if so is your cable adjusted for correct pedal height.

The clutch was ok but I had to adjust the cable quite often until it couldn't adjust anymore and it didn't want to go into gear.
I then bought the new kit fitted it and then it still wouldn't go into gear.
It seems the guys who had the car before me modified something by the pedal as there is a little plate welded onto the pedal lever.
I will take photos tonight and show you it doesn't seem quite correct down there.

Maybe you could take some photos down there and post them for me as I see there is a box for electrics but all the electrics are outside the box.

Check the firewall where the cable goes through.
it may be cracked and flexing heaps.
or check that the pedal box isn't cracked and the pedal is twisting when pressed.

by the sounds of it, the pedal box has already been repaired, hence the plate welded to it. Only thing I can suggest is that you make sure the firewall isn't cracked as TAXI said, and other than that your clutch cable may be stretched out a bit.

Howzit peeps thanks for the advise.
I connected the cable on the fork and the pedal again adjusted the cable to about 5-10 mm above brake pedal.
Works like a bomb and the clutch is also much softer than it used to be. :D :drinks2:
