Melbourne's Weather - Did you catch PT in to work?

Postby Sunboost » April 2nd, 2008, 2:57 pm

I did. Farking ODing.

Hurstbridge Line: Buses are being organized to replace train services between Greensborough Station and Hurstbridge Station to due to fallen trees along the line.

Belgrave and Lilydale lines: There are currently no train services between Camberwell Station and Box Hill Station due to a fallen tree, passengers are advised to catch tram route 75. Buses are being only being organized to replace train services between Box Hill station and Ringwood station.

Alamien Line: Buses are replacing train services between Camberwell station and Alamien station due to loss of power.

Frankston Line: Due to significant storm damage at Mentone Station Buses are replacing train services between Cheltenham station and Frankston station.

Road Closures: Some lanes on the Westgate Bridge are currently closed due to the extreme weather. There are also road closures on the Western Ring Road. Please attempt to take alternative routes home.

Due to extreme weather conditions please allow delays on all other lines/roads due to safety precautions.

Yep and a whole station there too!  Lol

Apparently a house in mornington caught on fire after a power line falling on it. Out of all of the days to park under a tree, I picked today to. So I went and moved my car before just incase. :)

I drove past a number of carparks at Mooroolbark station that were empty when the rest was all tightly packed. I was all WTFing and thinking I was lucky then remembered the weather warnings for today and looked up - massive fk off gum trees.

I parked away from them,.

On the way home I saw a guy on a CBR leaning into the wind.

If I could feel my car being unbalanced by the wind, must've been "fun" on a bike.

Windy weather is interesting.
Our neighbours tree has managed to punch a big hole in our fence and deposit itself on our driveway. A tad inconvenient. It's all good though, they already rang their insurance company. :)

PT blows. Working in the suburbs FTW. Been there done that. That's some pretty major delays. All our delivery drivers were all messed up today cause they stopped vans from going over the westgate.

We here in Ballarat copped that dust as well as rain. I happened to walk outside and discover my car looking like I had just been bush bashing in it.

There was about a 3 or 4km stretch where traffic lights were off entirely. lol it was pretty funny trying to watch people negotiate intersections among themselves at 5pm in Bundoora. There were cops at some, not at others.
All the way from Lower Heidelberg rd to almost Whitehorse rd, no traffic lights.
And 2 of my mates ended up in Hospital cos they stacked their cars, fkn idiots

Weather was shit today but this is my story attending funeral in melb

Miss Train - Good thing me thinks as we replaced by bus's (I live in Albury NSW)

Drive to Melb, Get to Mobil at toolarook, dont even get out of the on ramp and to 80km/h and get pulled over "Randomly" But the copper was having some standing issues in the wind.

Get to Melb, Sydney road fked with road works :(

Get to Preston, was ok

Get back to cemetry wind gets right up, Priest ends up on his ass, nearly in the same hole as the coffin.

Decide to drive to North Fitzroy for wake, my old man gets taken out by a van 2secs behind me, hes ok, just a dint. No Lights on Niclson Rd. Van had NFI what to do without Red, Yellow, Green Lights

Decide to drive to Eltham, All traffic lights ok until Doncaster. Just get past Doncaster shopping center, slow down for major intersection where BMW is turning right, it just starts to turn and a kid in a VX Calais ploughs into it, I would say 50-60KM an hour, Calais fukd so BMW, sorry no pics. I was gunna stop but there was already 10 people out of cars by the time I got over the shock.

Get to Eltham, all ok there, but decide to come back to Albury, go to go across to Diamond Creek but there is a train in the middle of the crossing not moving, so I turn left, to realise that there is at least 3 trains not moving, had to do a massive detour to the bottom of the Wring Road, and the cops are down there, Cops yelled at me for not going fast enough through intersection :S

Oh Fun day.

My gate at the top of my driveway ended up in the middle of my street (30m). I got dragged when i tried to pull it back to the backyard. On the way to work I was looking at a cop who parked his car on a downed fence to stop it blowing onto ferntree gully road then looked up to see a big gum tree branch flying towards me. Missed it, cop came over to see if i was ok and we dragged it off the road. My work lost the supports they had layed for solar panels off the roof as well.

Driving home everything was a mess! Traffic lights were out almost all the way from Mt Eliza to Langwarrin. (Thats alot of traffic lights!) Cops were patroling 2 of the biggest intersections which lead on/off the freeway but the others werent patrolled at all and were crazy and so dangerous!

Got home to neighbours garage tin roof flapping around and neighbour 2 doors up had their gum tree fall on their fence. Lucky their dog stayed put.

Would've been later if a cousin didn't give me a lift from Box Hill.

Trams are the most useless form of transport in Australia.

I did...but not for work. I went into the city at around 5pm, and it wasn't so bad. Still daytime though. On the way back though, there was a stranded taxi crossed over the middle lane of Princess Hwy near Caufield station, and all of the power for that station was out. I lucked out, I was home for the majority of the storm. I did see heaps of powerlines and fallen trees today though.

Although today on the drive back home from Ringwood, some idiot cockface in a black E-Series was too busy speeding and sliding in the rain behind me, and when I was waiting for the traffic to clear so I can turn into my road, the retard slams on his brakes and nearly rear-ends me (with his horn blaring), screams profanities, and proceeds to drive on the grass next to me to continue screaming at me.

He had 3 children in the backseat too. :x I really hate people like that -seemed like the type that tried to take advantage of me just 'cause I'm still on L plates. So many idiots on the road in wet weather... :(
