Sorry to hear about your mate , its such a waste when you loose someone with so much Life ahead of them .

BUT i do beleive that this "parent blame" stuff is bullshit , a person can come from the best house and have had the best upbringing and they could still get in a car with a group full of friends and feel the need to show off and impress people which could always lead to a disaster like this .

I agree that parents do have the responsibility when your younger to teach you right from wrong , but when you turn 18 you have a car you have a licence you should be mature enough to know the difference between right and wrong ...if you dont you shouldnt be on the road at all.

Sorry to hear Eren, sucks when you know someone in such a bad incident.

Why the guy was goin so fast down that road who knows, but hes paid the ultimate sacrifice - his life and one of his mates.

This happened not so long ago when I was in about year 9. Some of you guys might of seen a video called 'Muck up Day' TAC was using it as an example for other drivers.
Story is muck up day, few guys got out in a VN, high speed and slammed a wall hard. Rear passenger went through the window, passenger also got killed. Driver escaped injured.
The driver ended up commiting suicide, as did his father after so many threats from the other guys parents.

Thing like this not only stuff up one young life, but they stuff up everything around them like a chain reaction.

Also agree there will be even more new hoon laws. Another case of someone stuffing it up for everyone else unfortunately. Dave, you wont be far off the mark with the no driving until your off your P's comment I reckon, lol!!

More driver education FTW. Stuff the driving test on the road, send them through a skid pan day or driver education course at Sandown or Calder or something before they hand over a licence. Theyve been on the road for 2 years, now throw some obstacles at them!

its not going to stop people in completly stock cars doing 110 in a 60 zone or anything like that . stock cars can still get up to that sort of speed . Banning it isnt going to stop people modifying anyway .

The people with that kind of mind are going to push whatever car they have to the limit. Would be smarter letting them do it in say an XR8 or SS than a Daihatsu or some other tiny unsafe car.

The downside to that idea Pete is there's far more momentum in an XR8/SS compared to a Daihatsu. Sure, ploughing into anything while doing 110 will hurt whatever you've hit, but the damage will be far less in a little buzzbox.

*note* I'm not advocating buzzboxes for P-platers. I think the hoon laws need to be made A) tougher and B) fairer. If you're caught doing genuine hooning (110 in a 60 zone) you'll be royally screwed, but chirping the tyres or doing 5kph over shouldn't attract a fine/demerit points/other forms of punishment.

Caught doing skids in an industrial area? Still get in trouble somewhat, but caught doing skids in a residential area should = big trouble. Same goes with other stuff like dorifto, the laws should be eased up a little in "lower collateral risk" areas and ramped up heaps in "higher collateral risk" areas.

ppl like you need a job at vic roads i love the "lower collateral risk" areas also something similar if you have pasngers??? could be good like if ur by your self in an industrial area at night no one arund it should be lower than a full car load. showing off.

Exactly ;)

Getting done, on your own, in the middle of nowhere = you still get punished but it's a minor punishment.
Getting done with a car full of people in traffic or in a resi area should mean you get a MUCH heavier form of punishment, be it a larger fine, more demerit points, loss of car, or (possibly, depending on what you're done for) jail.
