manual vs auto

Postby BLCKED » June 8th, 2008, 2:15 pm

ok i dont want to start a shit fight here!

just want some opnions on who thinks what is better for what applications

i currently have a 4 speed auto, stage 2 shift kit, rebuilt kevlar bands and servos with a 2000 stall.

im considering putting a 5 speed behind my 5 litre.

whats envolved? ecu change? do i need a v8 5 speed or are t5s all she same?
will a t5 hold out with my motor? or will i break it driving it hard?

i love burnouts and drag racing, keen on drifting but not full flegged on the track, more just around factories with mates.

i think auto suits my car better, and i can get the stall rebuilt to 3000 or 3500 pretty cheap through my mechanic.

would my auto sell for enough to pay for a manual converison?

whats a tough au ts50 auto worth? i wouldnt want to sell it for less then a 1000, but im not sure if thats a good deal?
70mm t/b and maf, extractors and exhaust, 2500 stall, stage 2 shift kit, ultra lows, pioneer/clarion stereo.

Get a Tremec box.. 3550's are not made but there maybe second hand box's out there??
IMO I wouldn't fit a T5 if you are into drag racing etc..
Auto's are real quick with lower final drives...
TMK the BTR's are much the same?? It's the ECU that's different in TS50's...
Some do mods to valve body for better shifts and fluid flow, a good trans cooler is essential...

im acutally looking and getting a c4 for it,

are they hard to find with a windsor bell housing?

would i be better off sticking with my current box and boosting the stall.

if you've got the cash, a tremec TKO 600 would be perfect. the 6 speed with some nice diff gears would make it great to drive...

personally, i wouldn't go with a T5, IF you will be pushing more power in the future?
v8 T5 conversion's arent cheap either, atleast 2k +...
