I have a question - how many of you guys who want a set of these are actually putting money away each week for the purpose? I have a very strong suspicion that of the 15-20 of you who have said you want a set, there will be about 3 of you who are actually saving up at the moment...

Yeah they'll be sorted, I'm not sure yet if I'm going to use spacers or get two different types of arms made. Either way, the EF/EL ones will be a little more expensive due to the differences.

Out of curiosity would the fpv 6-pot brembos fit under 18X9.5 drifteks?

I couldn't tell you - do you have an idea of the diameter from the center of the disc out to the edge of the caliper? I've got 17x9.5s I could measure for reference.

Clearance issues with Brembo's is spoke depth. You'd really have to measure how much room you have under Drifteks and how far out the Brembo Caliper sits.

Drifteks are surprisingly roomy, it would be interesting to see.

Tiny update, the ball joints are in the arms and I tried to fit the bushes yesterday, as my plan was to trial fit it all on sunday but I couldn't get the bushes to go in nicely - got one inner bush in, tried a shock one and destroyed it, tried a z-bar (or caster bar, whatever you no0bs want to call it) bush and it killed that too. The holes are chamfered and are identical to normal e-series (I've done 2 sets of e-series arms this year without a drama) but for some reason these bushes just tear. I've never used Mackay ones before, maybe they don't like me, maybe they're softer.

Anyway, I'm going to have to make a tool this weekend to make fitting the bushes easier, unsure if I should try another brand of bush instead...might take a trip to repco or something.

Super awesome bush fitting tool complete.

Will get some more bushes during the week and fit them. I think I'm going to cairns the week after so the timing for this is pretty gay :(

Will be trial fitting these suckers tomorrow. I expect there will be teething problems but I'ma have a smash at it and see what happens :)

Interesting to note that my direct experience leads me to believe that Mackay bushes are softer than genuine ford ones and are totally gay. Will be using genuine ford ones in the production arms I reckon.

Dan did you try and fit those bushes dry? You should use some dish washing liquid, a light film in the hole and on the bush, that should have made it a lot easier than trying to fit them dry.
If you only put a little bit on, it allows easier fitment (and usually no breaks on the way in) and it will not affect the bush by being loose or degrading the rubber etc.

For the record, Mackay Rubber is top notch Australian made rubber, all Ford bushes up untill the release of BFII, I believe, were Mackay Rubber. Now the rubber bushes you're buying from Ford are Chinese.
The only time a Mackay bush should give you grief is if it's being fitted wrong or to the wrong hole.

Attempted to fit them with moly grease, white grease and the white paste stuff you use to fit tyres (it's rubber on alloy after all...) and had no joy, the mackay ones just squashed into a black mess.

I killed two before I made that tool to assist with fitting (which I've never needed before, I've always just pushed ford bushes into ford arms with a press and nothing else) and had to order another two to replace them. Bursons gave me one mackay bush and strangely, one ford bush. You could tell just by squeezing them with your fingers or attempting to push your fingernail into them that the ford one was harder rubber, and it pushed into the arm with much less of a botched abortion look than the mackay ones.

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.
