$950 to bills! Swoit

Hmmm, I read it as you get what you're eligible for, so that single mum under 100k working on a farm should get the full 4 x 950.

I hope so anyway :D

Justin,

I read todays paper and I think ya right. Multible payouts are possible.

The sole idea of this money is to buy stuff from shops and preferrable Australian, to help the current ecconomic situiation.
Not to save it or buy private.

It's a great idea! I mean when does the government give $$$$ for nothing? (except those on the dole)

Get it and spend it!

I'm semi self employed I just realised. Haha I work at a Pub on a payroll, get tax taken out etc. And Also I subcontract myself because my mate doesnt know how to run his company. I simply pay my own tax and super.

But by the looks of it, unless your paying yourself out of your own company/business a payrol, and you pay double tax, I cant see anywhere that you'll get it.

Just heard on the radio about this scheme, apparently the opposition is denying it's approval at this point.

Not necessarily good, but make it look like they are doing a good job :)

Ive no doubt it'll go through. How come people on the dole got their $1000 bonus without the reluctance the tax payers get when being offered less of a bonus?

I heard on the news that this bonus scheme will take our national debt to something like 42 billion dollars. I'd love $950 for free as much as the next bloke, but if it means putting this country in debt to that extent then I'm not so sure it's a great idea.

Go Rudd for buying votes off people by giving them their own money back but buggering the books in the process.

You get $900 now.

The murray darling basin gets more cash straight up

The churchs and community groups get more cash

And the government has no way of knowing it will work.

What the KRR should of done is spend money on infrastructure. Such as put some cash into building a massive pipeline from QLD to Riverina NSW and The Darling River, and then to the start of the Murray so we could harness some of QLDs awesome water they always get. In turn more jobs created (Admin, Management, Labor, Trade, Transport) then more money gets spent on buying shit, and then also force the contracts for this massive pipeline that everything has to be brought local, pipes, couplings etc. Also causing more people to be working and spending money on shit.

Also he should of threw some cash into the Vic Gov and the Qld gov, and all other govs infact. Vic, build a damn trainline from Melb Air to City, extend Melton to be electric, extend Sunbury to be electric etc. Inturn creating more jobs etc and injecting some more money into helpin vic with its roads, also fund the total duplication of the freeway Melb/Sydney and Melb/Adl.

Qld should of got some cash to fix its flooding issue, such as maybe like building a big **** off wall to stop it from flooding all the time.

Sydney should of got cash to fund school transport, people get more moeny in there pocket as there not paying for it hence spend more.

List goes on and on 42bil could be better spent overall insted of pumping it into peoples pockets, because half my cash is going in the bank other half is going into paying of the credit card, I would donate it to the bush fire appeal but Im donating labor in the rebuild process. And i already threw in a couple of hundred.

Throw more money at pensioners so that in turn they can spend more money on wool, knitting needles and magazines

**** I would make a shit blood sucking parasite but I would win the votes by promising shit like that.

KRR should of followed Obama in spending money on

I think they're looking at a "sugar hit" to keep people in the jobs they have now rather than create jobs only available 3 years down the track. The mining industry will float the economy once again when overseas demand returns. Unfortunately there is little Australia can do to help that. The idea of the short time sugar hit is to keep people in the consumer based jobs that they already have and wait the slump out. China has a massive 800b odd infrastructure stimulus package which will increase demand for our resources in the coming months. I'm in the industry and know that Fortescue Metals have their shipping contracts (i.e. boats come in and buy iron ore) completely filled from March onwards as China boosts their reserves in anticipation.

Infrastructure projects take a long time to get off the ground. There needs to be pre-feasibility and feasibility studies conducted before the design, let alone construction which creates the majority of jobs has even begun. Tens of thousands of consumer based jobs would have gone before the first bit of earth has been turned.

When people stop spending money businesses reduce overhead (i.e. employees) to keep cutting a profit. The less people in jobs, the less consumers in the economy. Further jobs go to keep cutting a profit, and all of a sudden you're in the vicious cycle of a prolonged recession. By directly putting money in pockets we temporarily float the economy. JB Hi-fi keeps its staff on to cope with demand. Their staff buy more cars. People keep their jobs in manufacturing. People in manufacturing buy more plasma screen tvs, and the cycle continues.

By going into deficit we avoid a prolonged recession. The bean counters would have worked out there is much more than 42b GDP lost in a long term recession than such a stimulus package.

I'm not surprised that we are going into deficit just past the 1 year anniversary of the new government taking power. History repeating itself. I will diligently put the money away because it will keep me afloat for a few extra weeks if I loose my job in the near future. Screw society I need to look after myself first.

I will add one other point just because of the backlash of the money that was given out in December.

If people go and pump the cash into the pokies good on them that is stimulating the economy as well, people play pokies, buy drinks, smoke etc. There needs to be venues to have these pokies, these venues supply staff, staff keep working and earning money and spending it. Maybe we should all get a $900 pokie voucher and start stimulating the economy that way. lol

Well I've got SURPRISE COCKFAG for you....

Money in bank means bank has more to lend (i.e. thawing the credit freeze), bank can make more business loans, businesses can expand or stay afloat longer, more jobs created or saved, economy wins. The government actually made 2.4b of its own equity available to the banks not long back for this purpose (i.e. our banks can loan money off other international banks, to give out as loans to Australian businesses, using the government's equity as collateral).

My money will be going into shares, once again same effect creating equity.

About the only thing that won't help the economy is setting the cash on fire.

Looking back now, I bet all the lefties are regretting their decision to bring in the Rudd. He wasn't put in place because of his economic traits but his promise for change over the ABOriginies/ Climate Change. The Howard/Costella duo would of steadily raped the recession back if they were in power instead of giving out cash willy-nilly (even if they were a bit out of date with all their other policies- their economic game was tight).

I think you're a bit dilusional if you think that Howard/Costello, or any Aus government for that matter, could turn around a world wide recession. Best we can do is ride it out.

DOnno i think that you need to see some the facts

Im not a person that follows politics but this is what i do know
Australia was not in deficit before Rudd came along
We actually had 3 or 6 billion dollar surplus i believe
Not only that but the last 3 labour governments have led us into debt.

These are all figures from the age newspaper two weeks back .

Now im not a person that is one or the other but i think that those figures clearly talk for themselves . .

Now dont take this the wrong way but we have something that will stimilate growth in victoria already
The rebuilding of towns and the clean up of our fires i believe will stimilate jobs and money again as well .
With getting close to 75 or more million dollars i think that could help

BrockyB8 I can see you think the rebuilding of these towns is going to stimulate Victoria. But I disagree a minor bit, there's about 7000 people effected, how many people are there in Victoria?

That money they are getting is money from other Victorians anyway and that's less money they now have to spend. I can also guantee, that off the houses lost, that 50%-75% the rebuilding will be donated time only materials that is making money, but I dont see that is enough.

Rudd inherited a farrrked country, since Rudd has been in, I pay less Tax, pay less for fuel and No longer need private medical insurance. Howard had fuel near $2/lt, Had me paying tax out of my ears, and forced me to pay $150 a month on something I never used.

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.
