Usually if they make a visit they have plenty of evidence behind them.
"Hi, were the police. Have you been naughty and doing skids?"

"No officer"

"OK, our mistake. Bye"

Ever seen that happen?

But honestly, they can visit someone if info is given to them by someone like a pissed off neighbour. It's not illegal for them to follow up a complaint that way.

So you're saying if I do skids out the front of someones house, and they ring up the police and tell them my rego and details about my vehicle, but the police don't actually catch me, there is absolutely no possible way they could follow it up, because legally they cannot access LEAP to find out where I live?

They can't use LEAP if a silly old fart rings up complaining because you woke him up from his nanna nap.

Each cop has their own user password to log onto it and needs a valid, justifiable reason for doing so. Grandpa up the road upset about the noise would not be a valid reason.
This doesn't just apply to old people complaining funnily enough, it goes for any1 would you believe.

But someone logging onto crime stoppers, submitting a complaint of a car ripping nuts at a location then attaching a photo of a car in a driveway he found on the net. A Vaild reason to look up the plates and visit their house?

Compared to jim down the road ringing up and going a car just drove past me fast while I was watering the garden he was hooning, plates were "XXX-311". And that wouldnt be enough valid reason to look up XXX-311?

That's a tough 1. I'm not in the force yet, still a few months off so I don't know how I'd handle that 1. If it were a picture of the car in action then sure, I can't see why not.

Yeah photoshop could have been used, but you can't ignore the fact there's a picture of a car doing skids.

Saying all this, it is up to themselves on weather they think it's reasonable to use. May have to answer to superiors later on if they question it though.
