this has happened to me since i put the manual in, had no speedo and no reverse lamps, due to the pressures of having a car for work i had to ignore it and just drive
One day thought F it sick of using my nokia navigator to tell me how fast I'm going.
Checked the sensors, checked the terminals were clean, checked the wiring, passed...so i thought, got wondering, pulled out the loom tried figuring out whats what on the car trans loom itself and checked whats going where on the manual loom (this is before i realized we could download the service book on boosted), figured what was what by the coloring of the wires, put some voltage in some of them, presto something happened, speedo moved and reverse lights came on was like then why wont this loom work!!!
considering i have a EA manual conversion i got thought well i have an EA loom in there, could it be that different (like EF)
Image
(there's actually a mistake on the picture as well, one wire from both the neutral and the reverse were meant to be swapped, realized it after i took the photo)
went to pick apart today got myself an ED Auto loom, took out what i wanted, put it all in....finally i have it all back again.
Thought this is so stupid, why would ford do something like this, even to my amazement some of the old loom doesn't Even make scene, why have one Neutral wire on the plug and the other off, and what the hell is with the loop?!
Anyone come across this before or something similar?

I had a similar problem with my eb, The ea loom wont work in anything eb2 onwards. I had no idea where the orange wire went, had no reverse lights/starter.. etc etc. Plugged in an eb2 loom, everything worked straight off.

yeah i noticed that on the ea aswell but thought it was normal..
but i had scotchlocked my neutral switch wires cos the switch itself was broken

i just modified the eb 2 auto loom for my manual when i did the conversion. i noticed they were too different to bother trying to plug the ea one in.
i have a ea t5 loom here that i dont need anymore..
