HeraldSun wrote:UPDATE 7.22am: A POLICE officer has called an accident scene where one teen lost his life overnight one of the worst she has seen.

Frankston police acting Sen-Sgt Marie Mansell said the Holden Commodore the teen had been driving was ripped in half, with debris landing in both the south and north-bound lanes.

One teenager was killed in the crash, and two others injured, after the horror single-vehicle smash in Melbourne's south-east overnight.

A late model Holden Commodore was ripped in half with debris strewn across a 100m section of the Frankston-Dandenong Rd, Dandenong South as a result of the crash at 1.43am.

The entire back seat and rear wheel section of the car was snapped off and sitting about 40 metres from the main body of the vehicle.

All three occupants of the car were thrown out after it mounted a median strip and hit a tree. Police located the body of a 19-year-old Frankston man on a nature strip.

A female passenger, 19, was found on the road in a critical condition. Another 19-year-old male passenger, was also located nearby.

Both survivors were taken to The Alfred hospital. Excessive speed in wet and foggy conditions was being blamed for the accident.

Advanced life support paramedic Amy May says her team arrived within six minutes to find a car extensively damaged.

"The car hit a tree in the median strip, ripping the vehicle in two," she said.

"The pieces of the car came to rest... with debris spread over 50 metres.

"The roof of the car was pushed in towards the window sill of all four doors.

"Unfortunately one man was found on the road about 20 metres from the main section of the car, and had died."

Sen-Sgt Mansell said it was a tragic scene.

"When police arrived they found the vehicle had been split in half, no other cars were involved, but it appears that speed may have been involved for the amount of damage to the vehicle and the amount of wreckage strewn over the north and south laneways of Dandenong-Frankston Rd,'' Sen-Sgt Mansell said.

"It is very tragic. This is another young life, a needless loss of life and a warning that road conditions at this time of the year should be heeded.

"It appears drivers are not listening, they are not heeding the warnings that police are trying to give to young drivers ... have a good look at this wreckage because it is a very sad day.''

About 10 teenagers, who stood and embraced each other near the accident site, had been briefly interviewed by police.

Officers worked through the night in thick fog to piece together the circumstances that led to the accident.

The Dandenong-Frankston Rd was blocked in both directions but was re-opened just before 5.30am.

It takes the state's road toll to 144, two less than the same time last year.

At least the road toll is down!

VT onwards after an Impact the Speedo and Tachometer stuck on the speed the vehicle was doing at time of impact, quite easy for them to tell the speed.

I love how the old people in the comments are talking about slowing hoons down etc.

They cant talk, iv seen pictures and videos of my Dad in his XU1 Torona Government company Car, and what he did, everyone was young and stupid once.

if your a dick on the road, especially in those conditions, what do you expect to happen.. i hate to say it but its true.

alot of people out there dont realise the dangers on the roads.

i dont blame the old people making comments about slowing people down.
There is a time and a place for everything.

Frankston Leader delivers:

I like the wording of the article, it doesn't say "high powered". Pic 2 shows it's a 3.8 (manifold cover showing in pic).

Wow trees are strong, no level of ANCAP rating is going to help you in an accident like that.

I drove down Dandy Frankston road around 9.30pm last night and the fog was so bad I could not 10m in front of me. I could imagine it would have been around the same if not worse at that time.

That section of the road between the Mobil on the corner of of greens and frankston Dandy roads and Supercheap in Carrum Downs is notorious for car accidents the road is laid shitty and there are lots of bumps and cracks in the road that can catch people of guard.
I remember towing a trailer from my place to Jolly's and at a section of the road the trailor launch half a meter in the air from a bump and I was only doing 70 in the 80 zone. Its a very danderous stretch road.

I drove down the Princes last night at about midnight, the fog wasn't too bad at that time. Some fuckwits were doing 20km/h though... seriously if you're gonna go that slow in the middle or right lanes, put some hazards on, get a car with foglights on the rear, or preferably stay the **** off the roads.

Another one bites the dust.

Frankston leader pics are an eye opener..

Do any of you guys remember about 10-15 years ago a bloke stole a tank in America and went on a rampage? The thing that stopped him was a tree... he tried to knock it down with the tank, but the bastard didn't budge.

Lesson is dont fck with trees.

I could've had a stack this morning... coming over a rise (on a bend) all the steam was coming up off the road, the sunlight was strong as, and my windscreen instantly fogged up. On foggy mornings I normally trust the white lines and look for tail lights in front, slowing to 60-80kph (hey, it's the country... no way I'd attempt that in the city), but this morning the combination of extreme glare and my windscreen fogging up stuffed me. Anyway I discovered I'd half slipped over into the other lane while slowing down almost to a complete stop, pulled back in quickly and 30 seconds later a semi flew past me doing about 80, I didn't see it until it was actually passing me.

If I was 30 seconds later in leaving home this morning, it would've been a blind head-on.

Note - I'd slowed from 100 to about 50 (country highway) and should have probably slowed to about 30, it was THAT bad. First time the fog has ever caught me out...

It's pretty easy to f**k up like that.

Yeah, I was a bit confounded when I realised I was partially in the other lane, but when the truck flew past me I shit bricks. This is a road I drive every day.

i know who he was, and it was his mums 98model vt s pac.

dosn't matter what he was doing, there is no need for a stupid fukin heading like that when he has payed the ultimate price with his life.

I think the title is accurate, if you drive like that in conditions like that you are a tool. That doesn't change because someone died.

no it dosnt change what he did.

however in the context that he has written this thread in, i find it pretty immoral and disrespectful.

everyone makes mistakes, thats all i have to say, and i'll put $100 down that every one of you have broken the law one point in time, whether it be burnouts or speeding.

unfortunately it only takes one mistake and this can happen.

yes he did the wrong thing and i do not condone what he did and alot of it came down to in experience and showing off in poor conditions, but he has passed away now due to that mistake.

R.I.P
