Purchase of registered car without a RWC? (Vic)

Hey guys,
The EA S Pack I bought had registration until January 2008 on it, and the previous owner said that I could retain it as long as I provide VicRoads with a RWC within 28 days from the date of sale.
I asked him whether he was going to be cancelling it after that 28 days but he said that he can fill in the forms, hand them to VicRoads and they will take care of it even if it doesn't have a RWC - and give me the 28 days.
So I get a letter last week from VicRoads saying the registration has been transferred, all duties and transfer fees applicable have been payed and that the registration is to expire on the 17th of January.
I got a RWC yesterday and now want to know WTF do I do with it lol? I don't have to fill any forms or anything out by the sounds of it???? I tried calling VicRoads office but the queue is over 20 minutes!!!!!
Any help appreciated, I'm thinking the easiest way to go about this one now might just be to go to the VicRoads office..

Yeah, just take the RWC to a Vicroads office in person and discuss your situation there. Lunch hour is usually busy for them so maybe take a long tea break & short lunch break? If work allows that...

You still have to provide Vicroads with the rwc for the transfer to be complete, or 28 days from the day the say it was transferred your rego will be suspended/cancelled cant remember which.
best chance to call them is usually first thing in the morning
or since your connected ring them direct at your local branch...lol

Sounds like the car is now in your name, but will expire without the RWC... that means he's probably paid some of the transfer fees, u might have a fuller pocket at the end of this?

Well thats strange man ive been through this before you cant actually transfer a car without the RWC certificate it even says that on the forms.. maybe he had a RWC lying around and transferred it for you? but why would he pay stamp duty and all that for you doesnt make sense.. best thing just walk in with the RWC and papers if u got any and ask em what the go is cause it sounds all farked up.. vicroads make stupid mistakes all the time so dont take their word for it lol

30 minutes on hold so far..
I left a msg for them to call me back this morning and they called back while some fat bitch was talking to me. Didn't wanna do the rude thing and answer while she was talking. I should have, and then punched her in the fkn face.

if all the transfer has been done except for handing in the RWC all you have to do is take the RWC down there its got the rego on the paper all they do is enter it in the computer and its done takes them a whole 1min.
if you dont take the rwc within 30days your rego still expires in january but after the 30days it is suspended until you take the RWC in
cheers

Either Vicroads has stuffed up (highely likely) or the guy you bought it off is a grade A numbnut.
Why would he go in and pay stamp duty + $30odd for the transfer fee? Also why would he provide a RWC?
Sounds real suss man just go to Vicroads and get them to sort it out asap.
When you filled out the transfer form did you keep the original and the other guy take the pink copy?
