A POLICE car smashed through the fence of a central Wagga house after colliding with another car early Saturday morning.
Two male police officers and the 46-year-old female driver of the other car were taken to Wagga Base Hospital with minor injuries but were later discharged.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, said Wagga police duty officer, Inspector Paul Huxtable.
The crash happened at the intersection of Best and Edward streets about 12.40am on Saturday.
Insp Huxtable said a Ford Ranger police caged truck was heading west along Edward Street when it collided with a silver Holden Commodore that had been travelling south along Best Street.
An Edward Street resident yesterday told The Daily Advertiser the police vehicle ended up in the front yard of the house on the corner of Edward Street and Little Best Street.
The out-of-control police car demolished part of the brick fence at the front gate and uprooted a small tree in the yard. Inspector Huxtable said police in the Wagga Local Area Command were investigating the crash.
He said the police car was not in pursuit of any vehicle at the time of the crash.
In other Wagga police news from the weekend, a 25-year-old male P-plate driver was allegedly caught doing 106 kilometres an hour in a 50kmh zone on Dobney Avenue late Saturday night, and a 27-year-old female P-plater was charged with a drink-driving offence after allegedly returning a mid-range blood alcohol reading of .120 on Peter Street at midnight Saturday.
