sup crackers
in regards to high level brake lights, are they required?
ie, on a supra, if the center/high level light was deleted from the hatch (taken out, filled, painted), would that be legal?

i could be wrong, but im pretty sure there has to be a centre brake light, if the globe was out it would probs be considered un roadworthy

its probably one of those things you will never ever be picked up about... until the day your rear ended and the insurance assessor noticed you have deleted a hi-stop brake light. instant fail.

Yeah I remember speaking to bentley about it, he reckons that if you have the light there, it has to work, but if you dont have the light, then it doesnt matter.
mines gone completely as well, but wondering if its actually legal or not.

Only un roadworthy if there is no globe but provisions for one. Cos hole is gone snip the loom and it's legal. It's also unroadworthy to have one in body and on a spoiler (4 in total)

They wont pick up on it as missing anyway. The hole is filled well. A rwc mechanic / cop isnt going to remember any fast and furious scenes or know enough about supras to know its missing.
Falcons got the middle brake light in EA series 2 from memory, so its been a law since about then.

i hate cars that dont have a working high-mount brake light.
but if your going to delete it, hold SHIFT at the same time, so you permanently delete it, and doesnt go in the recycle bin.

what about if theres not one there at all??
in the supra the high mount brake light is in the back of the hatch, mines been taking out, filled and sprayed.
doesn't look like it ever had one.

thats road worthy... if it has a red reflector and the fitting and wiring for one and theres no globe or the globe is blown then its unroadworthy... thats what the roady guys at my work all said...

I got pulled over the other week n got a minor, seat belt didn't retract quick enough, bonnect release cable was hanging down and the rear brake light (parcel shelf) wasn't working...Spoke to vic roads and they said if it came with the car factory it has to work..

Seat belt didn't retract quick enough? WTF. I'm fucked if I can find anywhere in the RWC rules that state x amount of cm/second retraction requirements for a seat belt. The cop must have been a full on Nazi, or you must have been a massive kunt to him.
If the car was fitted with an eye level brake light from factory it would have been fitted to make the vehicle comply with ADRs.
If you remove it, the vehicle no longer complies with ADRs, so you may be dicked by the cops. You may have someone run up your ass, and then you may be dicked by the cops.
I'm unfamiliar with the exact design of the headlining of a supra, but you may be able to fit a roof mounted eye level like a VE? You'll be able to find something to fit it without too much trouble I reckon.

Victorian cops do seem to check that one a fair bit. They checked it on mine one night when they were giving my car a going over.

Commercial vehicles have different (lower) safety standards.
Places like Autobarn sell LED 3rd brake lights that are positioned similar to an NF Fairlane (top centre of rear glass) in various sizes. They are discreet and should end the debate once and for all. I'm not aware of any argument in favour of not having one.

Nah i know that rule, i got done while getting a rwc for that. Had to get a new drivers side seat belt. I was told it has to retract quickly because it cant be loose on your body, like if you lean forward then back and have an accident ull shoot forward before hitting the seat belt. meh its ok they arent that expensive, or you can just give the retracting mechanism a good clean out. my belt was frayed aswell so i had to replace anyway.
