Boosted Falcon

Hi all,

I'm not too sure if i should have posted in this section - but here goes....

I've only ever had to buy one set of passenger car tyres, all of my other purchases have been for motorbikes and 4x4's - so i'm not really "in the know" with normal car tyres. I also have little faith in the local tyre shop selling me the right tyres, so i'd like some info/opinions from you guys.

I need some new tyres for my SVO wheels (16x7). They currently have 225/50's on them, and from what i have seen, this size seems to be the most common for 16" "sport" tyres (Commodores and Falcons). The car they are going onto is a 1991 EB Fairmont sedan (302W/auto). The car is my daily driver and does 600-700km a week, mainly freeway. Its just a cruising car, so no massive power or racing action with this car .

Basically what i'm after is some recommended brands, models of tyre, and some size options (skinny fronts and fatter rears?). Cost isn't a massive issue, as i know with tyres you get what you pay for. I can't go to a super low profile either as i live in country VIC and the roads here aren't the best.

No cheap nasty tyres either!

Firestone firehawk wideovals are what I have now, they stick really well... good grip in the wet... very good grip in the dry, plenty of warning before they slide out... made my car feel 10 times better to drive compared to my old tyres which were bridgestone AE92's, champiro something, and silversone's..

I haven't tried that many brands, but these seem to be a pretty good tyre IMHO.

What size tyres are you running? How much were the Firestones?
