Buy manual 325i (E36).

Kind of given up on the ED, but here's what it needs:
get idle fixed by real mechanic
fit the 3" zorst
put all turbo shit back on
get non-fucked MS2
fit 044 and 660's
blow gearbox
put auto back in
upgrade to 67mm turbo.
run an 11 (just one)
break stuff (likely before the 11).

Then there's the house Gemini project:
get all parts in one place
pull motor from gem
buy mounts/looms/shit
replace with the VP 3.8 and auto
try to run a 13 for under $1000 total
attempt to register
do sick donuts
get manual
learn to drift lead tipped arrow.
fit roll-cage... for shits n giggles.
fit million-HP nawz kit
blow legs off due to faulty intake welds.

You got me thinking for a second there so I went and had another look at it and I'll deffinatly need to move it to fit the cooler in the front, even with the scorcher bar.
I think EF/EL owners have it a little easier when it comes to turbo, you have more room in the front of yours.

Nah, he means the rear upper shock mounts extended.
Two pairs, chop a bit off each, weld together to extend them, so shock travel isn't reduced as much when lowering.

see turbo area for a thread about moving the receiver dryer forward in EA/ED so you dont have to make custom pipes. looks promising, cant believe more people havent done this.

Yeah I wouldn't mind doing that and then fitting the Comfort Gas shocks I have sitting in the shed. I have some spare mounts in the ED, I'll pull 'em out. Been thinking about it for a while.

The ride quality in the back end of both EA's is pathetic to say the least.

How much higher are the SVO ones?

Galapagos01- i think nuthin suss started a thread on AFF about them, if you still have access, or I'll try and remember to grab some pics of them tonight. Just think taller rear shock mounts (the ones inside the car).

XRated- nah, they were made/welded by SVO, Johnny Z got them out of an SVO wreck or some shit, then I stole them from him when he put EDGHIA back to stockish.
Got an SVO sticker and everything :P

Sunny- They are like half another shock mount on top.
They couldn't be that hard to make.
If you could weld, which I can't.

I saw that thread and it did interest me, however, I am trying to fit a bigger cooler than what he is and even if I was to use that size cooler I wouldn't want it to be that close to the radiator. Plus money is not so much of a problem for me now and for $200 I don't see much of a reason not to have it done.

Would be interesting to make one with threaded sleeves that you could adjust.

Custom rear coilovers are the real answer though. :)

Yes that's what I'll be doing. Sunny you should definitely make some up for your EA, how are Dougs welding skills these days ? :P You could also use washers to space them up, but the problem there is there's not much thread on the studs.

*Sigh*. Get some real shocks man. I had this same problem with Ignition up here. He had superlows and 'GT Gas' shocks in the back if his EL Fairmont and the ride was abysmal. He kept bitching about it, I kept bitching right back, telling him to get stiffer shocks. He kept telling me that the GT's were new and that they were ok, that he didn't want stiffer ones because he didn't want a harsher ride.

Eventually BI6TIM convinced him to get some (stiffer) pedders in the back, and he couldn't believe how much better the car felt. He put up with ricebounce for years before getting his shit together.

Soft shocks = crap on lowered cars. Get some pedders (BI6TIM will no doubt recommend a set to suit) of some koni reds, or even something from Bilstine, and throw the (anti)comfort shocks in the bin.

I've got reds/2" lowered pedders springs in the back of my car and never hit the bump stops, OED has pedders shocks and Ultralows in his and never hits the stops, and his car rides better than most stockers.

Do it or Chuck Norris will go AFF on your ass.
Image

Look at your car. Now back to mine. Now back to yours. Now back to mine. Sadly, yours isn't mine. But if you stopped buying dodgy cars and bought an ED, yours could be like mine. Look down. Back up. Where are you? ...You're on BoostedFalcon, reading the signature your signature could be like! Anything is possible when your car looks like my car... I'm on a computer.

For sure. I put Koni reds in the rear of mine, and the difference is amazing. I went through a few pairs of GT gas/ comfort gas and they were all great for about a week and then feckin crap. The Koni's at least seem to have lasted a while longer and still ride ok.

real shocks being next on the agenda. how much are rear reds/pedders worth? edit: rears alone=$185.00+shipping from gtsuspension.com.au... feck!

i also want more lowerage in the front (currently kings superlow), but i think ultralows will be too harsh of a ride... id get pedders with lowered spring seats but thats probably expensive too.

As below, mostly cosmetic stuff for now (my car still looks like an old family car).

Tinting is next, which is probably gonna happen tomorrow.
Following that:
-Superlows all 'round
-Some nice shiny tail/headlights and bulbs
-Shift Kit
-Track me down some xr6/xr8/fpv 18/19"s with pre-AU offset (Don't care, as long as they're nice and simple)

Possibilties for after all that:
-Some sort of camwork, been looking into a 1636 regrind
-Canberra Car Styling's GTO kit (mostly interested in rear wing) - Check it out - http://www.canberracarstyling.com.au/sh ... JPG,medium
-ECU Modding

Anyone know what it would cost to lower an EA to superlow (shock/springs/camber kit)? What did you pay, or did you do it yourself? I've got prices on just springs/alignment, etc. for $649, but by the sounds of things I'd better get shocks/camber kit too.

Theres a bit of stuffing about 'tuning' the bump stop to reach optimum thickness before it bottoms out the on stop, as low as possible whilst still having a poofteenth of tailshaft-floor clearance.

EA:

Move EB2 fairmont interior from shed into EA.
Move XR6T turbo setup from the maverick's front seat to EA.
Move koni reds and pedders springs from under the house to EA.
