Headlights stuck on - non Ford

Postby private9 » December 17th, 2009, 5:42 pm

Hi Guys,

Wasn't really sure where to stick this, as it's non Ford related.

After arriving home this arvo, noticed that my low beams and taillights are stuck on, even though the headlight switch is off.

Double checked that the switch is definitely off.

After that, I removed both headlight relays, and they stayed on.

Then I removed both headlight fuses, as well as both relays, and they stayed on!

Finally, I removed the fuse for the headlight switch, and that turned them off.

Put all the other fuses and relays back in, and they only came back on once the headlight switch fuse was back in.

Anyone have any ideas what might be causing this prob?

The car is a 1st gen 1999 Subaru Forester.

Anyone have any ideas what the problem may be? Any advice appreciated!

Thanks,

Justin.

Does it have spotties/foggies by any chance?

No, think they were optional, but this just have covers where spotties would love and no fuses for the spotties.

i had this problem after dipping my car in the sea to go jetskiing. The trailer power connector is connected to your lights (as the trailer has brakes and tail lights of its own) and i had water in there. It turned out the water was briging the connection and keeping my lights on. i did the same thing with the relays and was just as confused. so check your trailer plug, mine was fvcked anyway so i unplugged it from the loom. The au's are connected to the loom in rear drivers side of the boot under carpet.

Unfortunately not yet.

Apparently this car does it every few months and disconnecting the battery for a few hours usually cures the problem. This time however it hasn't.
