when we last hired a car we went through the local coles servo, cost us $28 and we had it for 6 days i think. have a real good read of what theyre optional but compulsory insurance actually covers... i argued with him for ten minutes before he agreed to hire me the car but not take their insurance. their insurance added something like 12-14 bucks a day, but didnt cover diddly shit.
and pay with cash or use a debit card that has only enough cash in the account for the hire, i heard plenty of stories of places charging to top up the fuel, ie it needed $10 to fill it, but customer gets charged for a whole tank. and leave it clean, cos their cleaning rates are shall we say, generous lol
