Best way to rent a car?

So im looking at hiring a car while mines in getting repaired after my little ding. Whats the best way to go about it? As an RACV member, i get these prices for a week of rental

Hertz- Toyota Echo 2Door- $361
Budget- Hyundai Getz 2door- $406
Rent-a-bomb- EB Sedan- $281

God i want the EB

Ill be sending the invoice to the guy who hit me and he can pay it. These are the 3 cheapest options i have, does anyone else know any better way?

Whether a $300 EB would give a week of trouble-free motoring is another story.

In general, I recommend checking all the major rental companies including Thrifty and Europcar, as often there are specials on where you might get a day here or there for free ('4th day free' is common). That said, at this particular time of the year it can be hard to secure a rental car at all. I was always happy to pay the extra for a car I'd actually enjoy driving - predictably, my favourites class is the FG/VE/Aurion one. I found rent-a-bomb often neglected the cars to the point of being dangerous, with a brand new car rental barely costing any more. But go for the EB if you want it!

when we last hired a car we went through the local coles servo, cost us $28 and we had it for 6 days i think. have a real good read of what theyre optional but compulsory insurance actually covers... i argued with him for ten minutes before he agreed to hire me the car but not take their insurance. their insurance added something like 12-14 bucks a day, but didnt cover diddly shit.


and pay with cash or use a debit card that has only enough cash in the account for the hire, i heard plenty of stories of places charging to top up the fuel, ie it needed $10 to fill it, but customer gets charged for a whole tank. and leave it clean, cos their cleaning rates are shall we say, generous lol

ive rented a car before, it was a nissan tiida and it was fucking fantastic fun for the week i had it...except it was pretty damn pricey!

I use Thrifty a fair bit through work and find them to be pretty well priced.

Of the 3 options you mentioned, I'd take whichever comes in a manual
