yeah good point there but you would think at least bump the power up 351 or something around that figure, but it is ford though lol

So they are dropping the XR8... massive massive fail
315kw from a supercharged 5L... theyre getting that much NA from an extra 400cc....
And thats one shithouse photoshop, its a fukin tacky add on carbon fibre-esque kit...

Forced induction and the same power as a run of the mill HSV GTS? Even if it would have great aftermarket potential, the enthusiasts and car magazines are not going to compare a modded GT with a stock GTS for fairly obvious reasons.

im sure they are just speculating power, i doubt that they (FPV) would just let it be 325kw from a boosted 8 im imagining that it'd more likely be 330+ for the top spec FPV.

hmmm they may make it conservative figure like 325kw if the bump it up too high too quick the government or powers that be may can it like the old days of the phase 3 GTHO's and the like

exactly, its just annoying that HSV can release 'supercharged' special editions with stupid amounts of power and the media don't care.
and a 325 supercharged 5.0 would flog a 325 6.2litre

lets hope its badged as 325 but in reality like all fords force fed cars end up about 20% more powerful than the badge says lol

I thought at first this was supposed to be some hero model along the lines of the HSV W427, in which case its headline power figure would have been embarrassingly uninspiring. But having actually read the article

I retract my previous statement. The supercharged 5.0 will make an excellent bread-and-butter motor for FPV.
The logic makes sense. The performance has to go way up to avoid being a miserable waste of fuel like the current XR8 and GT (relative to the XR6T/F6). Forced induction is clearly being pushed by Ford across the board, including turbo four cylinder base model. I would not be surprised if the 5.0's fuel economy is superior to HSV's LS3. Despite the apparent apathy of buyers in the segment, fuel economy (at least as a token effort) is an important PR factor due to the danger of being viewed by the public as wasteful. Politically incorrect cars like the current HSV E-Series simply will not exist in several years, unless fuelled by ethanol or LPG.
I look forward to seeing the beast in action.

Article is total crap. Complete speculation (i.e. "bullshit"), notice how they have ZERO sources. That photo is of the new Jag 5.0L S/C V8.

Bomber - incorrect, different engines. Jag 5.0L is Direct Injection, Ford 5.0L isn't (for now, apparently).
The new Ford 5.0L is still a Ford "Modular" engine (the bore spacing is identical to the 4.6L and 5.4L because it comes off the same production line) and the block is similar in some ways, but pretty much everything else has changed.

regardless of who what and where, i think its great that they are still developing the V8, especially with the FI.

I wouldn't say its complete crap.
-FPV are getting the new 5L
-FPV wan't to build a "GTHO" type car
-The 5l will be available with the blower
-I'ld say power would be somewhere around 350kw (351 GT lol)
-I Remember motor saying that the XR6T would have 220kw...
-HSV will suck its nuts

The last time this popped up, it was 300kw from the NA 5L (XR8), 330kw for the NA 5L (GT) and 380+kw for the SC 5L (GTHO)

I'm pretty sure I have an issue of Top Gear Australia with this rubbish in it, and they said 302 and 351 power figures. I'll believe it when I see it.

yer its in the newest issue of wheels. they dont seem to know much except that insiders have talked about 400kw+ dyno readings but "wheels" doesnt think they will give it that much power. sounds like BS. its a front page story but only half a page write up.
