Car crushing

Postby Sunboost » January 23rd, 2010, 9:58 am

They're gunna start crushing cars after your third hoon offence..

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/victor ... 5822477807

Epic gayness, seeing as the Mill Park crash was caused by a driver who had a BAC of .19.

What has hooning got to do with it?

Postby josh_ef » January 23rd, 2010, 10:25 am

so the law has acutally been passed?

im already on 3

first offence they took it on the spot, i got it back 48 hrs later got a summons to court and charged with "failure to control a motor vehicle, improper use of a motor vehicle"
got a fine no big deal

second offence they took it on spot for 48 hrs again, again got my summons this time charge was "driving whilst suspended" they wanted to take the car for a futher 2 months wich lawyer fough thtat i needed my car for work and i will loose my job with out it so i just got heavilly fined over 3 grand all up.

third offence was drag racing, wasnt even speeding that heavilly, 18 kms over but copper said it was dangerous all the usual crap took the car for 48 hrs as standard. i was certain when i got my summons to go to court they would try and take the car for good so i decided to sell it to my mate so i could buy it back later or use it in his name

but turns out thats an offence to sell a car that is awaiting an impound order/charge vic roads even put a block on it if you try to transfer it, so i sold it unregisterd cancelled the rego went to court the copper was pissed off i sold it and wanted to impound my partners car wich is bull shit. they charged me with speeding, and "selling a car under the hoon impound act" or something like that and it was only like $2500 in fines, wich i think is better then loosing my car

not sure how third offence will work now, like if they will take it and hold it till court date or if they just take it for 48 hrs, let you have it back then summons you to court and then charge you collect the car to crush most people will strip motors and goodies off their cars anyway you would think? defeats the purpose of crushing rolling shells?

my 2 cents

In the article it says if the car is registered in the hoon driver's name they will crush it, so there may be a loop hole.

Either way, your record is fkd and you should probably try not to fuk up again. You will cop jail.

i agree with the 3rd strike and its crushed, but i think the 'hoon law's are too tight. spinning wheels in the wet on the white lines and gettimg up to the speed limit as quickly as possible isnt hooning.

yeah i just read teh full article. yeah i have been good all last year, grown up alot. cant fight the system. also said they might not crush the car if its not registered.

i think its stupid how there going to sell parts off cars put them back into circulation

they will sell the expensive performance stuff to make their coin, all about revenue raising.

The harsh penalty could only happen if a hoon driver owns the car and has two previous offences for crimes such as exceeding the speed limit by 45km/h, drag racing, doing burnouts or dangerous driving

wicked.

Is it third offence in the same car?? So if you get 2 offences, you take the parts off, sell the car buy a new one, and away you go on zero?
Stupid fucking laws, even if I am in nsw. It's a joke how everything done now in a car is called hooning. Let's drive and drive...hooning

They're going to need to build more car crushing sites to keep up.

It will only effect the people tho own their cars. All the "hoons" in the FPV and XR's with massive loans will escape getting their cars crushed.

Nice in principle, but quite wasteful. They should just employ Sundeep full time to part out the cars, then crush the shells. At least some of the cost to the community caused by extreme 'hoons' could be partially recovered.

What has hooning got to do with it?

The government is just trying to buy votes, election soon remember? Gotta be seen to be doing something, the millions of dollars wasted on extra wage/s so they can process hooned cars (ie. Police standing around waiting for tow truck, lift home, prepare extended breif, etc) could be spent on subsidising driver training etc.

Bit like the super water tanker the brought in to combat fires, 10mil right there, in 3 months for something that won't even work in Victoria's countrysides.

But at the end of the day they need to get into power/stay in power and the way to do it is by giving people superficial things to think about and what the "majority" of people want to hear, gov doesn't give a **** about the 18-25yr olds, they are not the primary population of voters its the 25yr old plus who have "grown up" some more and have the real impact on who gets into power.

Its all an illusion to win votes and make more money.

Throw the muzzas in jail for a month or too, that will soon sort out hooning for them when they are someone elses bitch.

Oh and I don't have any stats infront of me, but statsically iirc more people die on our roads from drink driving and generally shit driving (falling asleep, mobile phone use, stupid truck drivers, etc)

That is crap how would you know how many times he has been done. I really cant see how it would be legal to crush an innocent party's car which really had nothing to do with it.

But if you're driving a car that is OWNED by your friend, from what I understood it can still be crushed, weather it's your car or not. It just can't have any encumberance on it.

i thought they said in an article that some cars would be crushed if they were under finance?
so they would be paying for a cube...

i think the 'hoon' laws are a joke. they like to throw figures around...
we now have a much larger population with more cars, busier roads etc etc but arent death rates lower than they used to be anyway?
accidents will happen regardless. hoon laws like this will just mean more and more people running from the cops rather than pulling over to cop a few points and a fine.

lol indeed.
i think that what some people are getting at is 'breaking the law' is becoming more and more an opinion of the officer at the time rather than clear cut.
