After idea of what el and ef fairmonts are worth

Postby lawler » January 27th, 2010, 2:16 pm

Well I'm starting to look for another car and was wondering if anyone would be able to spread some light o what I would be expecting to pay for a clean example of ether EL or EF tickford optioned fairmont

Don't know if it makes much difference but here what I'm looking for
charcoal color
Tickford body kit
Tickford suspension
Leather interior
tow bar
Sun roof (profer but not that important)

That about it

i got an ef fairmont ghia series 2 with sunroof, full pedders suspension, full leather and not half, 12 months rego and 190,000km clocked for $4000. This meant that it came with the tickford head and lsd.

i changed the grill to an el fairmont $32 and bought a damaged el tickford kit for $200

i thought that was a pretty good buy, the paint on the car was pretty good but it had some dints. Overall it was a good starting point as it had all the shit and everything worked lol

pretty broad i know, but you've mentioned two models that spanned a few years.
so it would depend alot on what year you were after

You can have my supercharged one for 5K. Needs a little paint on the bootlid and top of bumper but otherwise a good car.

If you want tickford you need a Ghia, EF2 or EL. If you can find one with everything you want, probably around $5k.

Yeah I was looking at that one because its down Hobart way but he has $5,500 on it and I dont realy like the color. and is the reason I was asking what they are worth.

They seem kind of hard to find in tassie but Ill profer to find one with the kit and leather interior (it was the optioned you chose that gave you the tickford motor for some weird reason) due to the faceted besides rims and lowering it might get exhaust and extractors but that all I want to do to it so I dont want to buy one that Im gona start spending money on a kit and that strait away

I think you may be slightly confused....
Fairmonts did not come with Tickford motors.
Fairmont Ghias, from EF2 onwards did.
A Ghia has leather/velour trim standard
Kit is optional across all models.

and on the earlyer ones if you got leather trim you got the tickford motor. Interesting fact I found out when I was working at ford helping one of the sales man move box of old sales brochers and that when the work shop was slow on day.

And one of the mechanics thats worked there for about 20 years was telling how people tried to order them with the leather trim to get the tickford motor but then cancel the leather trim because they only wanted the motor but it never worked

erm... thats some BS.

I've seen a number of full leather EF I Ghia's with standard motors.
i'd be more inclined to say that some of the transitional models between EF I and EF II may have gotten the Tickford motor.

If its a series 1 EF Fairmont Ghia it will not have a tickford. It could have leather, kit, sunroof etc, but no Ticky.
S2 Ghia will have a Tickford, full stop.
It will also have a 3.45LSD - which was a no cost option for other Fairmonts.

with regards to the Tickford Badge on the rocker, I dont think it was standard, it may have been a dealer option or if the customer wanted it, because I have seen 1 in about 20 EF/EL ghias with a Ticky badge on the rocker. Just check for the T stamp.

EF2 Ghia, Ticky, no ticky badge

EL Ghia, Ticky, ticky badge
