You are probably aware that the Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) has been working hard with the Victorian Government for over 3 years to create a new Melbourne ANDRA Drag Racing venue.

In October 2006, the Victorian Government agreed to commission a feasibility study to determine the viability of the ANDRA Melbourne Drag Racing proposed venue. The Government has only released part of that feasibility Study, which probably means the results were better than expected. They have now appointed another consultant to do some further work, which they has just recently been completed however the results are are held by Government.

We share your frustration that the Government has been very slow at considering the new ANDRA Melbourne Drag Racing 'plus more' venue.

The 'MOTORVATE MELBOURNE' cause is about letting the Government know that Drag Racing as well as all motor enthusiasts, are as important as any other sport or recreation and also deserves funding, especially for venues.

'MOTORVATE MELBOURNE' lets all motor enthusiasts have the opportunity to be part of a movement to educate the State Government so they can see that motor enthusiasts are normal family people who want equality in sports venue funding, instead of the current funding discrimination against new Motor related venues that are available for the ordinary motor enthusiasts enjoy the passion.

The ANDRA Melbourne Drag Racing venue is more that a world leading Four (4) lane Drag Strip it also has facilities for car club sprints, Drifting, Driver Training, Car Cruises, Show 'n' shine car shows, burnout events karting and more.

As you would know, there hasn't been any ANDRA Championship Drag Racing in Melbourne since 2001.. Melbourne was the Australian Mecca for Drag Racing.

The very first Australian Drag Racing Nationals was held at Riverside in Melbourne, near where the Westgate Bridge now stands. The last ANDRA Australian Drag Racing Nationals occurred in Melbourne at Calder Park in 2001.

ANDRA has developed a strategy to pursue venues where the various Australian State Governments build and own the venue and ANDRA hold the lease. This ensures that the sport has guaranteed, reliable access to a safe and suitable venue that will deliver the agreed sporting and community outcomes determined by ANDRA and the State Government.

The WA Government built the ANDRA Perth Motorplex and the NSW Government built Sydney Dragway, the Queensland Government helped Willowbank Raceway in Brisbane and the Victorian Government now have a great opportunity to reap the economic and community benefits by supporting the ANDRA Melbourne venue.

So here's your chance to get behind 'MOTORVATE MELBOURNE' and really make a difference by convincing the State Government to proceed with this venue as soon as possible.

Come on 'MOTORVATE MELBOURNE'.
