hey guys i am going to put a turbo timer on my AU but i dont want any problems with the central locking or anything like that.
i couldnt find any info when i did a search except for ba/bf related stuff.
has any done this or have any info on how to go about this job?

well i fitted one at work on a ba, and i dont see how this could be any different to the au because the ba has a more sophisticated setup.
just fit it as it recommends and it should be fine

this is what i found on AFF site, but yeah dont wanna start cutting wires and shit if its different

FITTING A TURBO TIMER TO A BA/BF FORD
AND KEEPING REMOTE CENTRAL LOCKING WORKING

PARTS NEEDED Turbo timer (with both ignition and accessories outputs and preferably a connection to hand brake)
5 pin changeover relay (Bosch p/n 0 332 209 135 or 0 332 209 150 Hella p/n 3057 or similar )
4mm wire 3 colors about 1 metre long each (red green and blue) 3mm wire 2 colors about 30 cm each (black and red)
Terminals to suit (insulated female spades, joiners and earth rings)
Insulation tape, cable ties Optional solder
TOOLS NEEDED
8mm socket and handle, multimeter (or test light), crimping tool,
Optional soldering iron
WHAT TO DO
Start by opening fuse box cover and undoing the three 8mm headed taptite screws that hold up the fuse box. Locate the loom that runs to the ignition switch from the dash to the left of the fuse box area and find a 4mm yellow wire (battery 12 volts) and a 4mm red/green wire (ignition 12 volts). Connect a 4mm red wire to the 12 volt supply and a 4mm green wire to the ignition wire, tape these wires together with the blue 4mm wire and after putting on spade terminals run to where turbo timer will go (see pics). Find red/green 3mm wire in plug on rear of fuse box top l/h corner (wire you want is 2nd row down and 2nd column in from l/h edge) and cut this wire about 150 mm from plug, connect this wire to terminal 87a, extend the other side of this wire using red 3mm wire and connect to terminal 30, run the blue 4mm wire to the relay and connect to terminal 86, connect a black 3mm wire to terminal 85 and run other end to earth. Do not use terminal 87. If hand brake connection is required run wire behind r/h kick panel and connect to orange/green wire from hand brake. If speedo connection is required run to l/h kick panel and connect to black wire in loom coming from engine bay. When wiring is finished cable tie relay to back of fuse box and any wires crossing over steering column to pedal bracket well above column near existing wiring loom.
HOW IT WORKS
When turbo timer activates power on green wire keeps all ignition circuits active while power on blue wire activates relay and cuts ignition feed only to the remote control receiver, this allows the remote central locking to operate as if the engine is off.
