I'd do the turbo first and then decide if you want or even need one.

yeah high stall really depends on the final combo.
no good getting one now only to find out it doesnt suit your plans after everything is fitted

you need to tune the car to work around the histall by my experience. Get some power up first, then put the stall in then get it tuned for the stallie.
2800-3000rpm is good for the street. Not to lose on the convertor and you will be laughing!

stallys are awesome but i would wait till ya do engine mods first and get ya cam sorted,
get a stally that suits ya cam
or just get a 3500

works 2 ways from what im told. you build the stall for the car (mods you got), then u build the tune for the stallie.
or that just a BA worked 4sp thing

i retuned ba after i went from 2800 to 3200rpm. Gotta retune the way the boost comes on.

you probably had to do that because the torque you thought you had there you didn't. Which in turn made it too high or too low.
A tight converter can show up holes in the tune.
Oh don't confuse stall with slip. a cheap converter will slip heaps but not go fast, you can have 5000 stall and still drive at 2000 rpm.
You get what you pay for.
If you want the best look at what all the fastest cars are running, street cars and race cars.
They are all TCE run by the man who pretty much invented the High stall !
However you do pay for the privelage.

ive had an "eased off" 2500rpm stall that was crap. but since got the 3500rpm dominator, thats made with a commodore housing as they are smaller. works a treat!

I think, and please correct me if i'm wrong because i'm not too sure, but you select the cam for what you want to do(drag racing, cruising etc) then choose a stall to suit the cam, and then diff gears to suit the stall? i think thats how it goes i'm a little unsure though.

its not really about choosing a specific stall to suit when throwing numbers around, it really depends on how it all act when its in the car.
its a very educated guess getting the stall right, but you are on the right track with the things that will affect the choice.
i think the more mild the setup the easier it will be to get it right

I screwed up when getting my stall. I ordered the cam and stall on the same day. I asked for a 3000rpm one, and he told me he could do it. When I got it, it would only stall to 2500. When I rang and asked why this was, he replied he thought that 3000 was to big for the street.
It also constantly slips in and out of overdrive at highway speeds, and just seems to make the car very doughy.
As of tomorow though, I will have a 2800 Red Diamond stall behind it, and hopefully that goes a little better.

Slight thread mine, but I thought this thread had a few good points.
Has anyone tried or is running, stock motor (EL I6) with 4.11 Diff gears and a 3000rpm stally?
Pros? Cons?
Cheers

Do you remember my blue car?? 4.11s exhaust, Stock el motor/injection and 2500 stall. Do you remember how fun that car was? 3000 stall would only make it more nuts.
