Is pulling out / Installing a LPG system illegal?

Just want to know if pulling a LPG system out of a car is illegal?
Im lead to believe that pulling one out isn't, but installing one in is..(thus does it need to be done through a qualified gas joint)

One of my cars is on LPG EB Mont(has been registered as lpg) but the gas system is up the shits (as old as the car 1993), so I cannot claim the rebate.
But If I were to use my other car (straight petrol) to have the gas system put on, once its on, and move it over to the EB...

Cheers

its illegal mate ur not allowed to re use the gaslines that run from the tank to the convertor incase they leak or crack from all the movement when removing them

nothing illegal about it, as long as you get it signed off by the gas joint after you are done

yeah you can get a gas certificate, i suppose like a roadworthy... but they have to be licenced in inspecting gas systems. something likethat anyway..

What if you were to use the same tank and gas line (existing in the car) and just change over all the underbonnet stuff + computer?

It will be fine. Just make sure you turn the tank valve off before you start and run the car so all the gas in the lines is gone before you take the converter off.

can agree with above.
most places will let you install everything but not hook up the tank.
some places will want to do the safety relay as well, but you can save a fair amount of cash by doing alot yourself.

yep.. Sunny did an install on his old EL Ghia back in the day, but never got it complianced, after we got it off him we removed the service line and took it to an LPG joint and they redid it and complianced it, as mentioned above, they also redid one of the relays.

they were impressed with sunny's work and said i probably would have been able to get it complianced as it was.
