The guy who is/was buying my car had an RACV check done on it today whilst we were working. I didnt have a problem with it as I thought the car was in pretty good nick.
Got the results of his 'test' and they are as follows.

Body is in average condition, has been repaired at some stage.
- I had dents removed just before Sandown.

Interior in average condition, leather is hard.
-10 year old leather isnt gona be perfect.

Motor is fine.
-Possible HG leak though?

Trans/Diff both leaking.
Never seen a drop in my driveway, work or Beths.

Struts worn, very stiff and poor ride.
Both front and rear brand new Pedders in April. 19's + dumpage wont be the best ride

Needs new steering column.
No idea why it needs that, i do know it needs a tierod end replaced.

The only thing I know is broken is the heater, and he didnt pick up on that.

Said he wouldnt pay more than $4500 as it is now with reg and RWC, $3000 without the rims.


Not sure what they were comparing it to, but I wont be selling it that cheap. Its a 9 year old car, its got a few small scratches, no dents, and I reckon it looks great.

Are these tests really worth the $150 this guy paid for some guy to just go 'nah, not worth it' He coulda paid for the RWC itself for that much, lol!

That's shite. Heater not working is an RWC issue!

Steering column - wobble the wheel around, does it feel a little slack/does it clunk a little? If so it may be an issue, if not I'd treat that comment with suspicion.

Swap with beth's suspension maybe (unless hers is shagged ) and have it checked somewhere else. Sounds like a bullshit assessment to me Petey

yeah that sounds like a crock of shit, from what i've seen your car is pretty mint. Didn't you put concorde leather interior in it too ? As for the leaks, it's probably just a bit of seepage from hear and there making the auto and diff look like they're leaking. As for the ride, tell him to grow a mustache.

Yea they pretty much make any car sound shit basically these tests so as soon as someone asks for one forget about selling it to that guy and enjoy watchin him waste his money. Every eseries is gonna come up with pretty much the same report any car ive sold no ones wanted one of those one guy did but couldnt get it organised so he bought the car anyway

Those RACV tests aren't worth a pinch of shit.

They don't do compression tests or cooling system pressure tests. What fcuken good is it.

Yeah it was definitely BS mate. The 'tester' must be dealing with some bloody mint cars if he describes yours as average.

And for a car with 19s and superlows it has one of the most comfortable rides getting around.

Too bad the guy who wants to buy it doesn't know jack shit about cars so he'll probably take this RACV test as gospel

I have seen a report were they mention steering (which was better than most) and also seat belts being faded.
They missed the fact that the car had a blown and cracked head, fuct radiator and cooling system, SLS had failed, amongst other things. But atleast they picked up on faded seat belts :/

Alot of their time they are a waste of money. Also some seem to compare it to new cars, and dont relay that to the prospective buyer. Of couse a E series will have some wear and tare, yet they list it like its a major default

Tell all your mates I do used-car tests, $50 a pop in the western suburbs of melbourne only.
I rock up, and if it doesn't do standstills its a piece of shit, don't buy it.
It'll tell people more then an RACV test does.

I have had these tests done, they just look for cosmetic shit (like has it been in an accident?)dont rely on them as they are superficial.
Everyone knows a good car when they drive one!, just stick by ur car, inspector's depreciate ur car

RACV told me I needed new wheel bearings...

new diff pinion/bearings/shit later, turns out they were wrong

If you seriously need a check done on a car before purchase best to run it into a VACC approved workshop for around $200 I think it is the guys go right over the car including a compression test of the motor and a decent road test.

Its basiacally a roadworthy check with a better test of the main mechanicals of the car

Generally someone who asks for such a check knows f-all about cars and thinks the racv are gods....It really depends on the tester too some are great some just dont care

It would actually be interesting to get one done on my car...just to see what they pick on.

I'd probably just laugh.

Was talking to mum and dad and they said they got a few checks done here and there when mum was getting a new car (they know bugger all about cars) and there was no good feedback. They ended up going against them and buying one. Turned out to be a very reliable car! Glad I didn't pay 150 bux to get one done on my car. I would never have bought it and its turned out to be an alrite car.
