RMIT Motorsport club

Thought some people might be interested in this.

The answer to your first quest is NO. You dont need to be a part of RMIT to join, they only require half the club to be actual students. They receive funding from RMIT to organise and subsidise events.

There is an event Saturday 3rd of July at Winton race track. You get a full day of racing for only $30. All the details are listed at the link below.
http://www.facebook.com/#!/event.php?ei ... 10&index=1

im not sure what it normally costs for a full day of racing but this seems cheap.

You dont need a racing license, you dont even need a normal license but your car must be roadworthy. Im not sure how much they will check as nobody would be stupid enough to think you could organise a motor sport event for uni students and expect them to all have roadworthy cars. Anything they can afford is usually slow i.e stock pre turbo falcons. So what would be the point of going racing in a stock eb or the like :P

ANYWAY..... Thought some people may want to sign up, I think the club is relatively new and im guessing that there will be other events that will be subsidised as well.

To sign up as a member of the club, please email rmit.motorsport@yahoo.com.au your:
- Full Name
- Student Number
- Email

Thats a copy and paste from their facebook page, most of you guys wont have a student number obviously so just email them saying you want to join. I dont know how many non-students they have at the moment but they should have plenty of spots to get some serious falcons in there

The Winton Day on the 3rd of July is a Winton Fun Day, you don't need to be a member of any club to rock up.

Turn up with a car that passes scruiteneering, pay your cash and off ya go.

In previous years you had to get a certain racing licence from Winton (can't recall what it was called, but it was like $25 and lasted a year)

I've taken my EF to 2 fun days.
once before it was turbo, and once when it had ~180rwkw

both were incredible fun (enough to encourage me to build a proper track car)
all sorts of cars go, i remember being overtaken by some crazy XR6T, the guy was a nutter :P

I thought Winton required a AASA licence to drive there.

Maybe they have given up on it, i know there use to be a fight brewing between Cams and AASA, some tracks were happy with one or the other.
