There is a clip on the small end. Not the cylinder end. Get a flathead and flick it off. Then close the boot and knock it off sideways. I had the boot open and it slammed into my hand so not a good idea.

Absolute prick of a thing to do - easy to get off, but I struggle getting them back on!

You guys are girls! They clip back on easy as with a screwdriver, and getting them off is easy if you remove the black spring clip. Can't remember if I had to remove the side seat bolster to get to the other end or not.

EF/EL's also had a problem with the 3 spot welds on the innter bracket mount breaking off in some instances too. Check it's not that.
