How fucked is your 4L

Postby bushman » July 6th, 2010, 4:23 pm

Well pretty much, Another_ef, NUT347 and a few other forum members went out for some late night action, back when i had the EL and while the tacho was telling me high RPM, it spun a bearing.... well almost all of them. Rods 5 and 6 did not have bad damage but the rest of the bearings were rooted, and all of the main bearings except for the very last 2 at the back of the block were rooted as well, I dont think i'll be able to get the crank Ground :(

But any way it was a fucken good skid lol :D

No 3. piston

No 3. with 2 others u can see the wear difference

ANd the main bearing caps,

No 1. Rod cap and bearing

And for those who like the gore, The blocks last way to attack me

skids are judged on instant smoke constant smoke and lastly car control if u got all three of them then its a good skid. but one consolation it did have fire and thats always a huge crowd pleaser :P
But yeah wasnt a bad skid but definately wasnt some of Bushy's best work

well i didnt think my bottom end was fucked lol
but apparently it has other thoughts!

only slightly melted pistons, but the pistons are pretty loose in the bore also.
i put it back together today and it still has mad compression and goes hard, so we'll see how long it lasts with the turbo on it :)

theres about 4 pistons like this

Image
XG Panelvan
EF bottom end with ported EB head, valve springs, EL ECU & J3 chip, crane HI6 CDI & MSD coil, LC-1 wideband & SSI-4 logger

soon - .595" lift cam, GT4202, forged AU engine and built head, ems stinger 4424 ecu, powerglide with 5500 high stall etc - next, bellhousing

XH ute daily - DOHC BA XR6 engine, T5, AU3 ECU with TI J3 chip, ported BBM, 3" stainless intake - 12" sub, tub liner and hard lid - mass skids and epic tyre carrying capabilities :)

WILDEB - Turbo AU engine + Shell fuel = Fail.

This is another of Gozzas engines, this one hydraulic'd due to an amazing combination of failed PCV valve in an AU motor fitted with a turbo and a log (ED style) manifold. Big revs then a lift off in gear meant it sucked a whole lot of oil into the manifold, then on the gas again and the turbo pushed all the oil into the rear cylinder. It wasn't pretty. The gudgeon pin was wedged against the crank so hard that we couldn't turn the motor on the starter or with a breaker bar OR with a starter and a breaker bar together, so we had to cut the side of the block out to turn the crank so we could undo the converter bolts....

From what you could see while it was in the block....id think it could. But once I pulled it out there's no way it happened in only a few seconds! RT reckons it's been running lean for ages, was a stupid thing to drive it so much untuned, don't know what I was thinking! Even if you kunts egg me on i'm never doing this again :P
